Welker Invests in Turkey with New Service
Germany-based Welker, the oldest company in the conditioning and heat setting sector, has decided to open a new service station in Turkey. Welker’s new Technical Delegate in Turkey was experienced engineer Bilal Çağdaş.
Founded in 1856 in Germany, Welker developed the first vacuum – steam conditioner for processing army uniforms in 1941. After the war, the company slowly restarted production and delivered the first vacuum conditioning machine to Turkey in 1952.
Meanwhile, there are plenty of machines installed in Turkey, so that the owner family took the decision to implement a service station in Turkey. Bilal Çağdaş, experienced engineer will be the new Technical Delegate of Welker in Turkey. He will be responsible for technical service, assemblies and general technical support for all companies working with conditioning and heat- setting machines. The entire long time know- how of Welker will be made available for Turkish customers.
In an interview with Klaus Kriesche, Sales Manager of Welker, we could get the views of Welker for the Turkish market:

Klaus Kriesche, Sales Manager of Welker
“Turkey is an important market due to its size and quality-conscious customers”
What does the Turkish market mean for Welker?
We at Welker see the Turkish market as the most important world-wide, not only because of its size, but also from the increasing number of customers paying high attention to quality.
Do you mean a change from mass to quality?
Yes, absolutely. In the past it was rather more difficult to sell our machines because of price, but we have increasing numbers of sold machines because we developed additional important quality features the customers would like to have to ensure their yarns are the best in the world.
Can you enumerate some details?
Yes, of course. Almost every machine sold to Turkey meanwhile has the new air-cooled pumps instead of water cooling. The environmental benefit is high. Furthermore, our new ACS – anti condensation system is also requested with high frequency. This device ensures complete elimination of water droplets falling from the ceiling downwards, which is a great and exclusive improvement. But there is a long list of innovative items that only Welker can offer.
How do you see the future developments?
Meanwhile, Welker has developed itself as partner in systems automation. Welker is the only specialist able to provide complete and complex layout solutions for conditioning and packing. There is a big labour saving and quality potential in the spinning industry when working with integrated automatic packing. The product is not only the yarn, but a correctly packed pallet with its correct ticket and barcode information. Almost 25% of our orders go into the automation of conditioning equipment, either new or used, that can be automated.

“We are the leader in Europe, we aim to be the leader in Turkey”
What other developments are taking place?
We are just starting activities of our new service station, which will be headed by Mr. Bilal Çağdaş who is being trained at Welker. He will act as Technical Delegate making available the vast technological know- how of Welker to the Turkish market. We are the leading company in Europe and it is our intention to be the leader in Turkey as well.
