10 Million Euro Investment from Narkonteks to Van
Narkonteks, which produces underwear, thermal, sports, home and beachwear categories, is preparing to open its fourth manufacturing plant in Van within the framework of the ‘Textile and Ready-to-Wear Organized Industrial Zone Project’ implemented within the scope of the Ministry of Industry and Technology’s ‘Attraction Centers Support Program’. Work continues on the factory construction, the foundation of which was laid in July. One thousand people are planned to be employed in the new factory to be opened in Van Textile and Ready-to-Wear Organized Industrial Zone.
Energy to be used will be generated from the sun
The Van production factory of Narkonteks, which currently has production facilities in Izmir and Manisa and a logistics center in Izmir, was designed to have a closed area of 24 thousand square meters on a 35 thousand square meter plot. The factory, which is planned to be operational in 2023, aims to have 85 percent of its employees as women and to produce 15 million units per year. Designed in accordance with EU standards by attaching importance to the concepts of environment and sustainability, all of the energy to be used in the new factory to be established by Narkonteks in Van will be obtained from the sun and a rainwater harvesting infrastructure will be created.
Exports to more than 25 countries
Toygar Narbay, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Narkonteks, who made statements within the scope of the new factory, expressed that as Narkonteks family, which was established in Izmir in 2005, they will open the new manufacturing plant in Van. Indicating that they are a company that produces a wide range of products, Narbay continued, ‘‘We are proud of our investment in Van, which will be the new center of textile production in our country with the Textile and Ready-to-Wear Organized Industrial Zone implemented in Van. As Narkonteks, it is of great importance for us to support the manpower in Van and to help Van develop and revitalize its economy.’’
Narkonteks, which was awarded in the ‘Gold’ category by the Aegean Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exporters’ Association (EHKİB) within the scope of ‘Stars of Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exports in 2021’, exports to more than 25 countries, especially the Netherlands, Germany and the UK. Narkonteks, which is also known in Turkey and the world with the Blackspade brand, plans to increase its exports as Narkonteks and the number of stores with the Blackspade brand this year.
