Üniversite-Sanayi İş Birliğiyle Tekstil Kimyasallarını Yerlileştirdiler
A textile company operating in Düzce requested support from Düzce University for the domestic production of a new generation organic bleaching chemical product was imported from abroad for 16-18 euros per kilogram.
The company which established in 2019 within Düzce Technopark with the support of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization of Türkiye (KOSGEB), started R&D studies to localize chemical products by under the chairmanship Prof.Dr. Halil İbrahim Uğraş, DU Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean and Head of Chemistry Department. Uğraş managed to localize the imported product with his team of chemists and engineers at the university.
Upon the positive results of jean trials and organic certification processes, Uğraş’s company and textile company established a partnership in February 2020 with the support of KOSGEB for mass production.
The company, which produces 20 more chemicals in a short time other than imported organic bleach, solid peroxide, resin, hydroxyl ammonium sulphate and formaldehyde-free resin, contributes to the national economy with its products.
Continuing to work for the localization of four more chemicals imported for the textile industry, the company continues its preparations for export.

“We saw that we were able to reduce the cost to less than 3 euros”
Prof. Dr. In a statement to Anadolu Agency, Uğraş said; he said that they have reduced the cost of new generation organic bleaching chemicals to less than 3 euros, thanks to the studies carried out by both the university and the Technopark.
Stating that they continue their R&D studies despite the epidemic process, Uğraş shared the following information: “”We made two formulations of this chemical that we developed that were much better quality. We kept working on the domestic production of some other chemicals used in textiles. At the beginning of 2021, we moved to our location in Düzce 1st Organized Industrial Zone. Meanwhile, we received our certificates for the production of four chemicals. Now, we can produce 25 items of textile chemicals. 5 of them are chemicals imported by Turkey and we are the only ones producing them in Turkey at the moment.”
Uğraş stated that they continue to work for the localization of not only textile chemicals but also imported chemicals needed in other fields and said, “We are planning to invest in the production of chemicals that are widely used in denim textile towards the middle of 2023.”

Düzce KOSGEB Manager Necdet Yaşar Şahin stated that the company has invested more than 30 million TL since its establishment. Explaining that the company has grown its R&D center day by day, it provides employment and has achieved good works; “We, as the state, are making an effort to expand our businesses established in cooperation with the state. Our company is a very successful business that makes serious efforts to reduce foreign dependency in the field of textile chemicals. It is a pleasure for us that KOSGEB has a contribution in this.” said.
