“We Have Launched Our Autonomous Mobile Robot Technology”
Electro-Jet, a company specializing in textile automation, introduced its Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) technology and next-generation yarn quality control systems to industry professionals for the first time at ITM 2026. The company emphasized that increasing labor costs and the growing need for qualified personnel have made automation a necessity in the textile industry.
According to Adolf Colom, Sales Manager and Textile Engineer at Electro-Jet, the company’s AMR robots, launched globally for the first time this year, were among the most significant innovations presented at the exhibition. The systems, which automate can transportation processes in spinning mills, are available in two different models designed for large cans and open cans. Colom stated that this technology will reduce labor requirements while improving in-house logistics efficiency.
“We are very proud because we are exhibiting our AMR robots for the first time in our history. These systems carry cans from one point to another point inside the mill automatically. Mills will be able to operate with much less manpower and make their production processes more efficient,” said Colom, emphasizing that it was also particularly important for the company to introduce this technology in Türkiye.
Another innovation presented at the exhibition was the company’s yarn quality control machines. The system can detect contamination and mixing faults in yarn and automatically reject defective packages. Colom noted that this technology was also being showcased in Türkiye for the first time at ITM 2026.
Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems are Shaping a New Era
Colom stated that automation, artificial intelligence and digitalization are at the center of the transformation taking place in the textile machinery industry, adding that today’s machines are no longer simply mechanical equipment.
“Before, machinery was mainly mechanical. Today, artificial intelligence, sensors, intelligent cameras and advanced software have become an integral part of production. Machines can collect data, analyze it and optimize production processes,” said Colom. He added that production can now be monitored in real time through mobile applications and that potential machine stoppages can be identified before they become major issues.
According to Colom, AI-powered systems not only improve efficiency but also offer significant advantages in optimizing energy consumption, maintaining quality standards and ensuring production continuity. Noting that the company has increased its investments in software, vision systems and intelligent sensor technologies in recent years, Colom believes that the transformation taking place in textile machinery will accelerate even further in the coming years.
“Türkiye is the Right Market at the Right Time for Automation”
Emphasizing Türkiye’s strategic importance for Electro-Jet, Colom stated that the textile industry’s interest in automation investments continues to grow every year.
“Türkiye is one of the most important centers of the global textile industry. However, the biggest challenges facing the sector today are finding labor and coping with increasing labor costs. Rising salaries and the growing difficulty of accessing qualified labor are pushing manufacturers towards automation. When you combine these two factors, automation is no longer an option; it becomes a necessity. We are in the market with the right products at the right time. We have already been very successful in automation in Türkiye, and today automation systems are considered a basic requirement in most new investments.”
Colom also pointed out that the transformation in textile machinery is not limited to automation alone. Sustainability and energy efficiency have also become decisive factors in investment decisions. He explained that the company is focused on developing systems with lower energy consumption and emphasized that reducing energy costs has become a critical issue for today’s investors.
“The Quality of Visitors Was More Important Than the Quantity”
Colom said that ITM 2026 had been successful in terms of visitor profile and that the company had the opportunity to meet company owners, CEOs and senior executives throughout the exhibition.
Although they had expected slightly higher visitor numbers, he noted that the fact that most visitors to the stand were decision-makers provided an important commercial advantage.
The Factories of the Future Will Move Towards Full Automation
According to Colom, robotic systems, AI-powered quality control solutions and full automation will be among the most important investment areas in the textile industry in the coming years. He stated that Electro-Jet will continue to strengthen its activities in these fields.
“The future of textiles is automation. Companies want to reduce labor costs and improve quality at the same time. Robotics, artificial intelligence and quality control technologies are at the center of this transformation. In the future, human intervention in factories will be much more limited, and a large part of production processes will be managed by intelligent systems.” said Colom, adding that despite current challenges, he believes the industry will return to a growth path.
When asked to describe ITM 2026 in a single word, Colom’s answer was particularly striking: “Hope.” According to him, the textile industry is preparing for a new period of growth and investment after a challenging phase.
