From Butekom, Affordable Testing Facility to Textile Company in Turkey
Bursa Technology Coordination and R&D Center (BUTEKOM) has successfully completed the scope expansion audits performed by the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK) and obtained the “ISO 17025 Laboratory Accreditation” in 32 testing methods.
Thanks to BUTEKOM, many Turkish companies will be able to have their tests done in Bursa instead of abroad, and offer the same service much more cheaply and safely.
BUTEKOM’s first on-site laboratories in Turkey, the Technical Textiles and Textile Center of Excellence and the Advanced Composite Materials Center of Excellence (IKMAMM) Labs, have successfully completed the scope expansion audits conducted by TURKAK. BUTEKOM, which is now accredited in 32 testing methods according by the TS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard, has become accredited for international recognition and acceptability.
The Only Institution in Turkey on Electrical Resistance, Ozone Resistance and Vertical Burn Tests
The testing laboratories operating under BUTEKOM, which was established to strengthen the innovation-based and value-added production in Bursa, continue offering their quality assurance activities and increasing the quality of their services. Capable to perform more than 250 tests in the fields of textiles, apparels, plastic and rubber, BUTEKOM has become Turkey’s first and the only accredited institution to perform physical and fastness tests including electrical resistance, ozone resistance and vertical combustion tests. BUTEKOM also has become one of the two institutions which can offer electrical resistance, thermal resistance and water vapor permeability tests in Turkey.
“Test expenses to decrease”
İbrahim Burkay, Chairman of BTSO and BUTEKOM, said that BUTEKOM has the vision of “being a multi-purpose international research center that develops new tests and analysis methods in its field.” Noting that they continue to continue their activities to expand the center’s scope for services and accreditation in line with this vision, Burkay stated that “BUTEKOM has the sufficient infrastructure for the tests needed to produce and develop original products. As a result of our accreditation activities, our companies now have the opportunity to have many of their tests made by BUTEKOM instead of outsourcing abroad. Our companies will be able to have their products tested at global standards in a much cheaper and safer way in our laboratories accredited by TÜRKAK. This way, we will be able to prevent the transfer of our resources abroad.”
“Solution Partner to Companies”
Noting that BUTEKOM, which works in cooperation with many research centers abroad, was awarded in the Turkey Chambers of Commerce Project Contest, Burkay said “BUTEKOM is the solution partner to many companies for testing analysis and audit services, sample production, technical reports, technical consultancy, training and organization services. More than 250 institutions and companies received services from BUTEKOM to date. We are expecting all companies in Turkey in the textile, garment, plastics and rubber industries, not only in Bursa, to contact BUTEKOM and benefit from the center’s services.”
