Employment Growth in Textile and Ready-to-Wear Sector
In the January-October period of 2022, the highest exports of textile and raw materials were made to EU (27) countries and decreased by 0.03% compared to the same period of 2021 and amounted to 4.9 billion dollars. In January-October 2022, the second country group to which Turkey exported the most textile and raw materials was African countries. Exports to African countries increased by 14.9% in this period and reached 1.2 billion dollars.
Italy: The Most Important Market in Textile and Raw Material Exports
In the January-October period of 2022, when the prominent countries in Turkey’s textile and raw materials exports were evaluated, it was observed that Italy was the most important export market. Exports of textile and raw materials to Italy increased by 8.8% in this period and reached 996 million dollars. In this period, Germany was the second country with the highest exports of textile and raw materials. Turkey’s textile and raw materials exports to Germany decreased by 1.1% to 832 million dollars. The third most important export market in textile and raw materials exports was the USA, which had a share of 6.8% in Turkey’s total textile and raw materials exports.
Turkey’s yarn exports drop
In the January-October period of 2022, when the exports of Turkey’s textile and raw materials sector were analyzed on the basis of product groups, it was seen that the most important product group was the yarn product group with a decrease of 0.9%. In the January-October period of 2022, when yarn exports were analyzed on the basis of sub-product groups, it was observed that the most important sub-product group was yarns from synthetic-synthetic filament fibers with an export value of 778 million dollars. In the January-October period of 2022, the most important country in yarn exports was Italy, with an export value of 282 million dollars; yarn exports to Italy increased by 7.2% in this period. In the January-October period of 2022, other important countries in yarn exports were the USA, Portugal and the UK.
14.2 Percent Increase in Woven Fabric Exports
In the same period, woven fabrics, the second most exported product group, increased by 14.2% and exports reached 2.2 billion dollars. While 39.1% of Turkey’s woven fabric exports were realized to EU countries, exports to these countries increased by 6.7% in the January-October period of 2022 and reached 847 million dollars.
2 billion dollars of Technical Textile Exports realized in January-October period
Technical textile exports, the third most important product group in Turkey’s textile and raw materials exports, increased by 1% in the January-October period of 2022 and reached 2 billion dollars. Looking at Turkey’s technical textile exports, it was observed that 32.9% of total exports in the January-October period of 2022 was composed of the non-woven textile product group. In this period, Turkey’s nonwoven exports increased by 3.6% and amounted to 646 million dollars. The second most important product group in technical textile exports was bags and sacks for packaging made of technical textiles with a share of 16.8% of total exports. In the January-October period of 2022, Turkey’s exports of the related product group decreased by 0.4% and amounted to 330 million dollars. The third most important product group in Turkey’s technical textile exports was glass fiber with a share of 6.6% in total technical textile exports in the January-October period of 2022.
1.7 billion dollars worth of knitted fabric exports
In the January-October period of 2022, knitted fabric exports decreased by 2.5% to 1.7 billion dollars. In the January-October period of 2022, when knitted fabric exports were analyzed on the basis of sub-product groups, it was seen that the most important sub-product group was other knitted fabrics with an export value of 1.1 billion dollars. The share of other knitted fabric product group in total knitted fabric exports was 62.6%. The second sub-product group was knitted fabrics containing elastomeric or rubber yarns with a share of 27.2% in overall exports.
18 Percent Increase in Fiber Exports
In the January-October period of 2022, synthetic-synthetic fibers constituted the most important sub-product group in fiber exports, which increased by 18% to 951 million dollars with a share of 62.4%. In this period, synthetic-artificial fiber exports increased by 23.9% to 594 million dollars. In the January-October period of 2022, the second sub-product group with the highest exports in fiber exports was cotton fibers with a share of 35.9%.
Turkey exported 258 million dollars worth of denim
In the January-October period of 2022, Turkey’s denim fabric exports increased by 6.9% to 258 million dollars. The most important country in denim fabric exports was Tunisia with 63 million dollars worth of exports and 24.5% share. Egypt ranked 2nd with 14.3% share and 37 million dollars worth of exports, Morocco ranked 3rd with 9.9% share and 26 million dollars worth of exports.
Regarding home textile exports, it was observed that exports decreased by 2.1% in the January-October period of 2022 and were realized at a value of 1.9 billion dollars.
