Erka Kumaşçılık Prefers Itema for Weaving Investment
Erka Kumaşçılık Industry Trading Incorporation has been operating in the textile industry since 1960. Erka, which started fabric sales in 2004, is one of the few integrated companies operating in Turkey today. The company produces cotton, polyester, linen, tencel, viscose, and blended fabrics for the entire ready-made clothing industry, and the annual dyed fabric production reached 20,000,000 meters with the dye house investment made in 2017. As of 2021, Erka Kumaşçılık started to produce weaving, which the company has been aiming for years, despite all the difficult processes the industry has been through due to devastating pandemic period. The company, which has invested in 72 weaving machines for this purpose, produces approximately 800,000 meters of raw fabric per month in its weaving facility operating with full capacity and efficiency with a 5000 mt² closed area in Bursa Demirtaş OSB.
Erka Kumaşçılık Founding Partner İrfan Boran provided information to our magazine about the company and their recent weaving machinery investments.
What are the products you produce and what are their features?
Among the fabrics produced in our company, there are shirting, trousers and other outerwear qualities. Our company, which sells 20 million meters of fabric annually, produces cotton, polyester, linen, tencel, viscose and blended fabrics based on these fibers for the entire ready-made clothing industry.
What are the issues you prioritize in production?
We aim to be an enterprise that is constantly learning, open to new technologies, new production types, different and innovative solutions, and changes. We are known in the industry as a reliable, success-oriented, and customer-oriented company.
What can you say about your production facility and capacity?
In our facility, which operates with full capacity and efficiency with a closed area of 5000 mt² in Bursa Demirtaş OSB, approximately 800,000 meters of cotton, cotton polyester, linen, tencel, viscose and these fibers blended raw fabrics for shirting and trousers are produced monthly. Our fabrics produced in our Bursa weaving facility are offered for sale from our Istanbul head office and warehouse after the dye finishing processes in our facility, which is located within the borders of Çerkezköy OSB, which is also a subsidiary of our company, with an annual dyeing power of 20 million meters and a closed area of 16.000 square meters. While investing in technology, we consider all needs in production, operating efficiency, product quality and sustainability of all these.
Can you please tell us about your recent weaving investment?
In our weaving production, we give priority to the quality of all general equipment of the enterprise, to support production, to be at a level that can produce reliable, efficient and high quality fabrics. We use our preferences in this direction in our technology investments. In this direction, we cooperated with Itema during the period when we were the contract fabric manufacturer. In line with the positive experiences we gained from this cooperation, we also used our new weaving investment for Itema. Accordingly, we preferred Itema for the weaving machines that we purchased in 2021.
