Innovative and Sustainable ‘Wiser Wash’ Collection from DeFacto
DeFacto brings together fashion lovers with its collection of jeans and t-shirts, produced with the Wiser Wash process, which is a sustainable method instead of using harmful chemicals or pumice stones.
In line with its sustainability understanding, DeFacto added the environmentally friendly and sustainable Wiser Wash method to the production technology of jeans to its collection in cooperation with Wiser Globe. Based on this, the eco-friendly DeFacto x Wiser Wash collection jeans will be produced using the Wiser Wash method.
In our world, where water and other natural resources are rapidly decreasing and being depleted day by day, the Wiser Wash method significantly reduces the water consumption during the washing process of jeans. Thanks to the Wiser Wash method, which is much more environmentally friendly than traditional methods, 16 liters of water are required beforehand to bleach jeans, but with this method, jeans washing decreases to only 200 ml. Thus, thanks to Wiser Wash, 80% savings are achieved in water consumption and a 59% reduction in the effects of climate change. The ecological and nature-friendly DeFacto x Wiser Wash collection, which DeFacto brought together with fashion lovers on March 22, World Water Day, in order to draw attention to the importance of water saving and to raise awareness, includes 14 pieces of men’s products and 10 pieces of women’s products. The collection includes jeans produced with the sustainable method and t-shirts in green and blue colors.
733 tons of water savings in jeans production
In the most recent sustainability report of Defacto, it has been announced that with the sustainable new technologies it has applied, 733 tons of water savings in 14,209 jeans have been achieved, and an average 75% reduction in water consumption has been achieved. DeFacto, which has implemented many savings projects in this direction, designs collections that will help individuals reduce their carbon footprint as well as achieve water efficiency in their own locations and reduce water use in production. Focusing on water, energy, and chemical management throughout its supply chain, the company encourages the production of sustainable products that require less water and the recycling of water in production processes. DeFacto aims to develop collaborations by identifying risks related to water and raw material consumption in the supply chain, and to reduce environmental impact by increasing efficiency.
DeFacto, which signed the United Nations Global Compact in 2014, also reduces the use of resources in its own facilities. It launches dozens of savings projects every year. With its sustainable collections, it aims to offer its customers the opportunity to consume environmentally friendly products. The company, which reduced the water consumption density per capita by 17.42 m3 and 10.84 m3 per person in its own locations, achieved a 38% reduction in the water footprint of 1 person.
