“ITM is One of the Most Important Exhibition in the World”

ITM 2024 Exhibition, where textile technology manufacturers from all over the world took part. Italian textile machinery manufacturers, operating in every field of textile from dyeing to printing, from weaving to knitting, exhibited their newest Technologies at ITM 2024. We interviewed with Marco Salvadé, President of the Italian Association of Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT), for Tekstil Teknoloji magazine.
Salvadé, one of the important names in the textile machinery industry, talked about the importance of ITM 2024 in the industry, the opportunities it offers against economic turbulence and the place of Italian textile machinery in the global market. He also shared the innovations in sustainability, digitalization, environmentalism and his expectations for the future.
Speaking about the opportunities offered by ITM 2024 to the sector, Salvadé stated that ITM is one of the most important fairs in the world, as ITM Fairs are organised in Istanbul, which serves as a bridge between Europe and Asia. “For us, Turkey is not only one of the main countries where we will export our machines, but also a connection point with many countries around it,” Salvadé said.
Stating that global markets are important for Italian textile machinery companies, Salvadé discussed the contribution of the Turkish market to the sector. He emphasized that Turkey accounts for approximately 85% of the turnover of Italian exports and that the country is an important part of these exports. “Last year, we exported approximately 200 million euros,” said Salvadé, emphasizing that Turkey has a very important place in the sector.
“More than 50 companies reduced CO2”
Addressing the issue of environmentalism, Salvadé gave information about the “green label” project they have been carrying out since 2011. He stated that more than 50 companies had the opportunity to explain how CO2 was reduced within the scope of this project. “This is something we can do as an association. Of course, all our members have to work personally to improve their machines,” he said. Emphasizing important issues such as making textile machines and processes more sustainable and increasing margins, Salvadé stated that digitalization has a great role in these issues.
