Karl Mayer: We Will Continue Developing New Products For Our Turkish Customers
Participating at ITMA 2019 with a wide product portfolio, Karl Mayer presented new and exciting applications and smart textile solutions with the motto “Future of Textile.” KM.ON, the company’s warp knitting, warp preparation, technical textiles and digital solution, attracted great attention.
During our visit at Karl Mayer’s booth at ITMA, Bastian Fritsch, Wrap Knitting Business Unit Senior Sales Manager, and Christine Wolters, Vice President of Corporate Communications told us about their products at the booth. Noting that Turkey’s home textile industry has a great potential, Fritsch stated that they are very satisfied especially with demands from Turkey on net curtain machines. Pointing out that Turkey is the second largest market for their warp knitting division, Fritsch said, “Turkey will continue developing new products for our customers.”
Giving us information on the machines they exhibited at ITMA 2019, Wolters said, “We exhibited a total of 7 machines at ITMA. Two of them are warp preparation machines, four of them are warp knitting machines, and one of them is a technical textile machine. Since we believe that the digitalization trend will lead innovation and process optimization, we launched our own digital brand KM.ON and introduced it for the first time at ITMA Asia 2018. All of our digital innovations on display at ITMA 2019 were developed by KM.ON”
Innovations on warp knitting and warp preparation by Karl Mayer
About the product portfolio they exhibited at ITMA 2019, Wolters said: “In the field of raschel machines we have introduced a new RSJ 4/1 EL. Offering 50% bigger working width at the same speed as the previous model, this machine is highly productive and has an unparalleled flexibility. We have demonstrated how the RDPJ 6/2 EL can be used in the field of double raschel technology. We are marketing our superior warp knitting products under the 4D-Knit.Solutions. Our visitors had the opportunity to see our eye-catching 4D-Knit.Solutions products in the “Future of Textile.” In the field of knitwear machines, we exhibited the first three-bar HKS model with electronic guide bar control. The new HKS 3-M-ON offers the same performance as the previous version in terms of speed and variety of designs in addition to being faster and simpler when changing patterns thanks to the innovative gear solution. We introduced the new Multi-Matic® 32 to produce sample and short production warps. This new machine is impressive with excellent price-performance ratio and offers all the advantages of the Kamcos® 2 platform. We have also displated the prototype for the new stop motion multi guard. Located at the creel outlet, this new product continuously determines the tension values of all yarns, thus controlling yarn breaks.”
“We focus on sustainability and energy saving”
Reminding that sustainability and efficiency are indispensable elements for Karl Mayer, Christine Wolters said that all of their products are made in accordance with sustainability strategies. Wolters said that at ITMA 2019 they introduced a new technology for denim, one of the focal points of sustainability. This new technology requires less dye volume, chemicals and water, while at the same time optimizing dye in terms of durability and bright tones. Wolters said, “All the products we exhibit have LEO® (Low Energy Option). This saves an average of 10% energy compared to their conventional counterparts and thus helps to reduce the consumption of resources.”
“Turkey is our second largest market for our warp knitting division”
Karl Mayer also exhibited sustainable warp knitting and application concepts in the Cleaner.Productions division. Among these are modern street clothes and TERRY.ECO terry fabric productions.
Karl Mayer’s Wrap Knitting Business Unit Senior Sales Manager Bastian Fritsch gave us information about their investments and the company’s product portfolio for the Turkish market. Noting that Turkey ranks second after Chine in the market for the warp said knitting division, Fritsch said “In spite of the decline in our sales due to fluctuation in the exchange rate in Turkey, Turkey remains to be the second or third largest market.”
“First demands net curtain sector came from our Turkish customers”
Stating that the first demands for net curtain products came from the Turkish customers, Fritsch said that they will continue developing products to meet the needs of their customers. Fritsch said, “All net curtain manufacturers are looking for something new and they all have many ideas. The latest developments have been mainly related to the production of light and transparent nets with various background and integrated patterns. As Karl Mayer, we have developed this kind of fabric collection on the E 28 size HKS 3-M machine and exhibited it at ITM 2018, and we received positive feedback from many of our customers. Currently more than 300 jacquard net curtain machines are operating in Turkey and they all work to the fullest capacity.” Noting that they developed a new concept of weft solutions for the Turkish market, Fritsch added that they will also introduce them to other countries.
