Serkon Makina to Showcase Industry 4.0-Compatible Solutions
Interview : Tuğba KARADEMİR
Founded in 2000 with the production of manual fabric spreading machines, Serkon Makina later expanded its offerings to include automatic cutting, fabric spreading, and fabric inspection machines. The company stands out not only for the high technology used in its machines but also for its customer-focused sales and R&D efforts. Serkon Makina, the producer of Turkiye’s first fully automatic CNC cutter machine, will take its place at Booth 810A in Hall 8 of the Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition.
One of the textile and garment industry’s most significant events, the Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition will once again bring sector professionals together this year. With a focus on technological advancements and sustainability-driven solutions, the exhibition is set to host innovations that will shape the future of the industry. Serkon Makina Sales Engineer Sefa Sağyalavaç shared the company’s expectations for the exhibition, the ongoing transformation in the sector, and the innovative solutions Serkon Makina will present. While offering insights into how digitalization and automation are reshaping industry practices, Sağyalavaç emphasized that the exhibition offers great opportunities not only for showcasing new products but also for forging strategic partnerships.
What are your expectations from the Garment Tech Istanbul Garment, Embroidery Machines, Spare Parts, and Sub-Industry Exhibition?
For us, Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition is more than just a trade exhibition—it’s a valuable platform that reflects the pulse of transformation in the industry. Especially in recent years, the exhibition’s focus on digitalization, automation, and sustainability through real-world applications makes it even more meaningful.
Our expectations this year go beyond showcasing products. We aim to establish new partnerships, reach new markets, and take an active role in the sector’s transformation. We value direct interaction with visitors to communicate our technology-centered production approach.
Our goal is to offer not only machines but also integrated solutions that provide companies with a real competitive edge. With this approach, we aim to make the most out of the exhibition and contribute to the industry’s future as Serkon Makina.
“Garment Tech İstanbul Exhibition is not only a hub for trade but also for technological transformation and sustainable growth”
What are your thoughts on the exhibition’s contribution to the Turkish economy and, specifically, the Turkish garment and ready-to-wear sector?
Exhibitions like Garment Tech Istanbul go beyond product showcases—they are strategic events that revitalize sectoral momentum. The year 2024 was particularly challenging for the textile and garment industry, marked by postponed investments and increasing uncertainty. Events like this play a crucial role in re-energizing companies.
With approximately 1 million jobs and $17.5 billion in export volume, the ready-to-wear sector is one of the strongest pillars of the Turkish economy. In this context, Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition is not just a commercial venue but also a center for technological transformation and sustainable growth.
The exhibition’s opportunities for new collaborations especially strengthen the competitive power of domestic manufacturers. This contributes to the development of the industry while supporting Turkey’s export goals. We at Serkon Makina are proud to be part of this big picture.
“We’re excited to showcase our Industry 4.0-compatible solutions contributing to the digital transformation of the industry”
Can you tell us about the products you plan to exhibit at the Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition?
At Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition, we’ll be showcasing solutions developed for critical stages of textile production—specifically for cutting and dyeing departments. These areas are where production efficiency and quality are most intensely affected.
For the cutting department, we aim to deliver time-saving and high-precision results with our high-speed continuous cutting machines. These machines offer flawless and efficient cutting for high-volume production facilities.
We will also display IoT-supported smart spreading solutions and accessories. These enable users to monitor the spreading process in real-time and enhance control through digital data transfer.
In labeling, we’ll introduce our digital labeling systems as an alternative to traditional plotter paper, offering great convenience for facilities handling a wide variety of products. These systems reduce paper costs by up to 90% and eliminate intermediary processes such as ironing—boosting production line efficiency and offering eco-friendly solutions.
Our digital solutions for dyeing and quality control units also stand out. Particularly, our AI-powered fabric surface analysis and defect detection systems help enhance product quality. Similarly, our high-precision color measurement and ΔE-based classification systems ensure color accuracy and compliance with standards.
These systems not only streamline production processes but also offer major benefits in sustainability, data-driven manufacturing, and compliance with European quality standards. We are excited to present our Industry 4.0-compatible solutions contributing to the digital transformation of the sector at Garment Tech Istanbul.
Do you have specific business goals or target markets during the exhibition?
Absolutely. Due to recent restructuring in global supply chains, nearby regions have become more strategically important for us. During the exhibition, we aim to engage directly with manufacturers from high-potential markets such as the Middle East, North Africa, the Balkans, and Central Asia.
Additionally, the sustainability expectations of our European customers are very important. One of our main goals at the exhibition is to increase interest in our product lines designed for eco-friendly production.
In the long run, we aspire to build lasting, value-added partnerships with technical textile manufacturers and businesses investing in digitalization. We believe the exhibition will open new doors and strengthen existing relationships.
What are the greatest needs of the Turkish garment and ready-wear industry, and how can this exhibition address them?
The most prominent needs of the sector today include flexible and fast production, energy and resource efficiency, high-quality standards, and compliance with increasing sustainability expectations, especially in major markets like the EU.
Meeting these needs requires moving beyond traditional methods. Transitioning to automation, digital monitoring systems, AI-powered quality control solutions, and data-driven production decisions are all critical for the future. In short, it’s no longer just about manufacturing—it’s about smart manufacturing.
Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition steps in precisely here. It’s a unique platform where all these transformation tools are showcased together and where participants can experience the technologies firsthand. It not only meets today’s needs but also helps shape the future of the industry.
