Sustainability Move in Production by Sun Tekstil
Attaching importance to digital transformation practices to ensure sustainability, Sun Tekstil brought the Sun Tekstil Departments together at the Sustainability Meeting at the IzQ Innovation Center. At the meeting attended by 230 Sun Tekstil employees, it was emphasized that the company attaches importance to digital transformation for sustainable change and uses the power of technology effectively.
Melis Vekiloğlu, Member of the Board and General Manager of Sun Tekstil, touched upon the sustainability steps and strategies of Sun Tekstil. Vekiloğlu said: “We prepare 5 sustainable, 4 recycled and 2 re-imagined capsule collections per year. We made 60% of our 2021 production with sustainable raw materials. We aim to make 90% of our production in 2030 and 100% by 2040 with sustainable raw materials. We attach importance to digital transformation practices to fulfill sustainability requirements. Thanks to our digitalization practices, we increase the efficiency of our design and production processes. Thanks to the three-dimensional design software we use, we consume less natural resources by reducing the physical sample sewing by 40%.”

Underlining that they made 20% of their total production in 2021 with environmentally friendly dyeing method, Vekiloğlu continued as follows: “Thanks to our cogeneration system, we saved the energy we spend to generate heat. With the energy efficiency projects we developed, we received a 30% incentive from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in 2021. Thanks to the improvements as a result of the energy efficiency projects we completed in 2020-2021, we prevented a total of 2,636 tons of CO2 emissions. In order to consume less natural resources, we create our digital fabric library thanks to technologies that display the fabric surface in detail. Thanks to our digitalization practices, we apply business models based on circular economy at all stages of our production, starting from the design process.”
Exports More than 90% of Its Production
Ranking 312th among Turkey’s top 500 industrial companies, Sun Tekstil designs, produces, supplies and sells women’s clothing collections as the solution partner of global brands operating in the ready-to-wear retail industry since its establishment in 1987. It produces more than 3 million products per month through its two production facilities in İzmir and Manisa and its clothing suppliers. It develops 1500 new designs and exports more than 90 % of its production.
