The Foundation of the Textile Factory where 800 People will be Employed in Van was Laid
The groundbreaking ceremony of Merko Textile Factory, which will be built on an area of 10 thousand square metres in Van Organised Industrial Zone (OIZ), was held. Speaking at the ceremony, Erciş District Governor Murat Karaloğlu said that the investment will provide employment opportunities for the local people.
Stating that hundreds of people will have job opportunities if the factory reaches full capacity, Karaloğlu said: “We would like to thank Mr Nihat Körpe, who provided this investment to our region, and everyone who laboured. We expect many investors here. We come together with investors in the OIZ. We have some deficiencies here, especially natural gas. We think that there will be an explosion of demand here after Erciş OIZ is naturalised.”
Investor Nihat Körpe stated that they produce approximately 11 thousand pieces of textile products daily in the factory with a closed area of 7 thousand square metres in Başakşehir, Istanbul. Explaining that they send most of the products abroad, Körpe said: “In this factory we will open, we aim to produce 250-260 thousand jeans annually. We will produce trousers, jackets, vests and t-shirts as jeans. The Merko Textile Factory, which we laid the foundation on 10 thousand square metres, will have a closed area of 7 thousand square metres. We will start with 400 staff in the first stage. God willing, we aim to increase up to 800. In 2 years, we want to continue on our way by increasing our production even more. All of the products produced here will be sent abroad.”
