Turkish Home Textile Companies Left Their Mark at Heimtextil Frankfurt Exhibition
Uludağ Textile Exporters Association (UTİB) participated in the Heimtextil Frankfurt Exhibition held in Frankfurt, Germany on January 7-10, 2020 with the attendance of 290 Turkish companies in order to consolidate the global power of Turkish textile sector, to open up new markets and to strengthen its well-deserved leading position in the summit. UTIB introduced innovative and distinctive designs of Turkish textile to the world.
Heimtextil (International Frankfurt Home Textile Exhibition), the world’s largest trade exhibition for home textiles, opened its doors to visitors for the 50th time this year. In Heimtextil exhibition, where sustainability was the main agenda; 2,952 participating companies demonstrated their latest innovations. Heimtextil exhibition, which hosted some 63,000 people, has carried the future to the present through interior decoration textiles, interior decoration designs and Heimtextil 20/21 Trends.
Turkish textile companies, which introduced the technological innovations they have achieved as a result of the breakthroughs they have made in recent years as well as the wide product range that have the ability to determine the world trends and designs in household, indoor and outdoor textiles, have come together with visitors, exhibitors, and buyers from all over the world. The companies also had the opportunity to promote many products and product groups including but not limited to decorative fabrics, curtains, furniture fabrics, carpets, upholstery, pillowcase, bed and table cloths, towels, bath mats, carpets, and curtains.
In addition to the trendy products of Turkish companies, at UTİB’s showground, where sustainable textile products that became the sine qua non of the present were located, the artistic production of Digital Artist Kerim Dündar and 3D Generalist Ege Irmak, named ”Fabrictale”, which tells the story of a rope reconnected to nature and transformed into a sustainable fabric, received full marks from visitors.
‘‘Turkey is the 2nd largest country exporting to Germany with 15 percent share’’
UTİB Chairman of the Executive Board, Pınar Taşdelen Engin, stated that Germany is among the most important industrialized countries of the world together with the USA and Japan thanks to its 83 million population and annual export performance exceeding 1 trillion US dollars, and continued as follows: ”Germany belongs among the important markets that Turkey exports due to its high purchasing power. In 2018, Germany’s textile imports amounted to 9.4 billion dollars and the import of indoor and outdoor textiles was 3.1 billion dollars. When we look at the countries that export to Germany, China is ranked the first with a 25 percent market share, whereas Turkey ranks the second place with a 15 percent market share. Last year, the worth of our country’s textile exports to Germany was 456 million dollars.’’
Engin indicating that Germany is the largest market for the household textile industry with respect to the export value of the products, proceeded her speech along these lines: ‘‘Our country still holds the position as the second-largest supplier in the German market. That’s why we care about the Heimtextil Frankfurt Exhibition. However, I would like to mention that Heimtextil is the most important trade exhibition not only for the German market but also for accessing the global markets. All European players in this sector visit this fair.’’
