Ali Bozkan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Dekat Makina

The machines imported by the company from South Korea were mostly used in industries such as textile, ready-to-wear, sub-industry, leather apparel, footwear sub-industry, and indoor textiles.
Dekat Makina, which expanded its product range over time, undertook the Turkey representation of Tang Embroidery Machines, Golden Laser, and Hans Laser, which have proven their quality and advanced technology in the world. Dekat also represents pearl setting machines and bead processing machines for the textile industry.
We interviewed with Ali Bozkan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Dekat Makina, for the ‘Embroidery Industry Special Issue’.
‘‘Our principle; Being a Pioneer in the Industry and Endless Customer Satisfaction’’
Which are the manufacturers that you represent as Dekat Makina? Can you please elaborate on your product portfolio and the features that distinguish your products from their competitors?
As Dekat, we represent Maya embroidery machines in Turkey. Our company has two main principles; one is being a pioneer in the sector and the other is endless customer satisfaction.
Let me provide you an example of customer satisfaction; Despite our 2005 model machine is with its fourth owner, we still continue to provide spare parts and service. Apart from this, all the products we sell are custom made in line with the wishes of our valued customers, with the most suitable equipment for their needs.
What are the latest trends in embroidery machines? What innovations do you expect in embroidery machines and the embroidery industry in the coming years?
For a long time, embroidery machines were produced only in line with the needs of the ready-to-wear clothing industry, today, indoor textile has been the driving force of all embroidery machinery developments. As a result of this orientation, all decoration needs can be met by placing embroidery, strain, beads, sequins, cord, lace, and laser apparatus in the same unit.
In addition, the length limits of 13.5 meters were exceeded as a result of the conscious R&D studies carried out by our company with our manufacturers for years, and the advantages of the embroidery machines were successfully applied to a wider range of manufacturing units. As a result of this, instead of embroidery machines that require a significant investment, very large inputs with color and accessory advantages and much lower investment costs were presented to the sector. This has provided great benefits to the indoor textile industry in global competition, with products such as curtains, tablecloths, and to the ready-to-wear clothing industry with products such as guipure and wedding dress fabrics.
‘‘Our Product Development Studies Continued Uninterrupted During the Pandemic Period’’
There has been a serious increase in Turkey’s ready-to-wear clothing exports during the pandemic period. How did this increase reflect on the embroidery industry?
The increase in exports provided job growth and income growth for manufacturers who have international approval certificates and regularly serve large export companies. Small businesses, which constitute the majority of the sector and serve the domestic market, experienced great distress and loss of income as a result of the stagnation of tourism and the decrease in exports.
What kind of work do you carry out to increase your market share domestically and internationally?
As Dekat Makina, we have participated in all industry-related exhibitions since our establishment, with products that are all manufactured with state-of-the-art technologies and have various features in terms of function and size. Unfortunately, the postponement and cancellation of exhibitions as a result of the adverse effects of the troublesome pandemic outbreak stalled our efforts in this direction. However, our product development efforts continued uninterruptedly during the pandemic period. We continue to present our products to our customers through face-to-face promotion.
What are your expectations and goals for 2021? Do you have new investment and expansion plans?
I foresee that vaccination will weaken the pandemic both in the world and in our country, and actual normalization will be achieved in the last quarter of 2021. I think this will lead to a significant increase in production and exports. We are also trying to turn this period into an opportunity to expand our after-sales service team and accelerate our R&D activities in order to maintain our leading and pioneering position in the market.
