We have Many Visitors from Outside of Turkey, which Shows the Importance of ITM
Pia Terasa, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Saurer, said: “The ITM exhibition is very important for Turkey as well as for the whole region. Saurer presented energy-saving and flexible solutions for pre-spinning, spinning and twisting at ITM 2024 in Istanbul. Saurer twisting machines can twist almost any yarn, from fine wool to carpet and from technical yarns to glass fiber yarns. We interviewed with Pia Terasa, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Saurer, for Tekstil Teknoloji magazine.
Can you briefly tell us about the products you are highlighting at ITM 2024?
As Saurer we introduced Autoairo 11 as a new product at ITM 2024. We also showed our new ring spinning machine, the BD 8 semi-automated rotor spinning machine, the SC 7 card, our carpet cabler and some of the components we have.
What benefits these products bring to users?
The Saurer philosophy focuses on energy saving and ergonomics. This means that our new generation of spinning machines always have lower energy consumption. This also applies to twisting machines. This is very important because today everyone is talking about saving energy. Sustainability is also a big topic today. With the Autocoro 11 we are the market leader in rotor spinning of recycled staple fiber materials. And BD 8 has been used for recycling for many years, even on ring spinning machines. Today, we are making great progress with recycled fibers.
What is your prediction for the textile industry and how is your company preparing for the future?
The future of the textile industry will be dominated by some big trends that are currently underway. One of them is sustainability. This means we need to recycle. We need a circular economy. So we need to think about how to spin yarn in a new way. The second issue is that it is always difficult to find employees for the textile industry. Because we compete with all other sectors in terms of personnel for factories. So automation, together with digitalization, will play a very important role for the future.
The textile industry has been going through a rough economic period, especially in recent years. Why is ITM 2024 so important for the sector?
ITM is very important for Turkey as well as for the whole region. We have the opportunity to show new machines that will help customers save energy, be more flexible in their production. Because fashion is constantly changing. It is also a great opportunity to meet new customers because ITM is organized every two years. So it’s a pleasure for us to come here.
How was the ITM 2024 exhibition for you?
The first day was good and even more visitors came on the second day. ITM 2024 Exhibition was good for our company. We had many visitors from outside Turkey, which shows the importance of ITM in the region.
