Fashion and Apparel Federation Met with the Industry in Diyarbakır
The panel organized by MHGF was hosted by Southeast Textile Industry and Business People Association (GÜNTİAD). Speaking at the opening ceremony of the panel held in a production facility in Textile Specialized Organized Industrial Zone, Hüseyin Öztürk, Chairman of MHGF said that as people who devote themselves to non-governmental organizations, they have to act with public conscience.
The panel was moderated by Dr. Rüştü Bozkurt, a researcher and one of the doyen economy writers of Dünya Newspaper. Among the speakers of the meeting titled ‘Textile and Ready-to-Wear Investment in the 6th Region’; distinguished names such as Hüseyin Öztürk, President of MHGF, Mehmet Dalkıran, President of GÜNTİAD, Dr. Hasan Maral, Secretary General of Karacadağ Development Agency and M. Emin Gümüştepe, Chairman of the Board of Lufian, evaluated the subject within the framework of their fields of expertise. The panel discussed the importance of Non-Governmental Organizations in Region 6 investments, the story of the breakthrough in Diyarbakır in recent years, incentives and supports, and the experiences of industrialists investing in the region.
‘‘Every useful work that touches people in our country is very valuable for us’’
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, which was attended by the presidents of MHGF member associations and MHGF Board Members from all over Turkey, as well as representatives of public institutions and organizations in the region, managers of non-governmental organizations and members of the sector, MHGF President Hüseyin Öztürk stated that the east migrated to the west for work and love in the past and said that it is necessary to come to the west to transfer information, strengthen mutual communication and get to know different geographies. Stating that the purpose of coming to the city is to contribute to the industry, Öztürk said, ‘‘Every useful and human-touching work done in our country is very valuable to us.’’
‘‘A new incentive system unique to the region should be introduced’’
Mehmet Kaya, Chairman of the Board of the Diyarbakır Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TSO), emphasized the need for new incentive systems specific to the region and talked about the work carried out in the Diyarbakır Textile Specialized Organized Industrial Zone.
Mehmet Dalkıran, Chairman of the Board of GÜNTİAD, stated that more than 30 companies have started production in the Textile Specialized Organized Industrial Zone and said that this means food and work for thousands of people. Noting that there was a 40 percent increase in exports from Diyarbakır in the first 7 months of this year compared to last year, Dalkıran said, ‘‘In the coming years, we have set a target of over 1 billion dollars in exports in Diyarbakır, as in Bursa, Denizli, İzmir and Gaziantep.’’
