The Jakob Müller Group is the number one supplier of systems and solutions for the tape and narrow fabric industry, providing a single source for every process from warp preparation to the final product.
“80% of seat belts worldwide are produced on our machines”
Jakob Müller Group Head of Global Sales and Marketing Christian Lerch started his presentation with a brief introduction about his company. Lerch said; “We are a global supplier with branches in 11 countries, including Germany, Czech Republic, India, China, America and Brazil. We offer products and technologies for the Fashion, Automotive, Home Textile, Medical and Industrial sectors. I can say that fashion is still the most important part of our business. In addition, approximately 80% of all seat belts used worldwide are produced on our machines. Although we do not seem to be in the forefront in the home textile sector, we supply curtain tapes. As I said before, we cover the entire spectrum from single thread to the final made-up product. So even the packaging is done on our machines.”
Stating that they are rebuilding their brand identities, Lerch; “Our visitors who come to our stand at ITMA 2023 will be able to see our new concept and stand.” used the phrases. In his speech, they renewed their digital concepts; Providing information about mymueller® and mymuenet®, Lerch said, “We now consider ourselves as a solution provider that designs the digital future.”
Lerch said the following about mymueller®, the digital service portal they started 4 years ago and added many features over time: “mymueller® is a service portal where our customers can order spare parts and receive technical support over the web. Our customers can easily register and access. Since this is a browser-based solution, our customers do not need to download any applications. There’s even an automatic freight and packing calculator now. In this way, we try to make it as easy as possible for our customers to order spare parts or any service from us. Customers often ask, “How is the tape produced, how is its structure, what are its technical features?” We answer these questions through our portal. In addition, our customers need support when commissioning machines. We use this portal again to bring the machines into working condition. In the coming years, this portal will be continuously expanded in terms of software and content.”

“We provide training to our customers about our machines”
Explaining that they also provide training to their customers about their machines, Lerch said, “Our trainings are not limited to Switzerland. We give these trainings sometimes in India, sometimes in America, sometimes in the Netherlands.”
Underlining that their services are not limited to spare parts, Lerch stated that the virtual compliance portal mymuenet® has been activated. Explaining that it is possible for customers to access their machines remotely thanks to this portal, Lerch continued his explanations as follows: “For example, the owner of a company headquartered in France wants to know how the factory in India, China or the Czech Republic is performing. In this case, the mymuenet® portal comes into play. mymuenet®, the digitalization portal for the narrow fabric industry, is a browser-based production data collection system with direct access to machine controls. This portal provides worldwide production data monitoring with detailed production data information to plan and organize the ordering procedure. Quick and clear visualization of production data information via dashboard for each machine to speed up interventions. Alarm functions indicate when an intervention is required, which considerably reduces the machine downtime. mymuenet® can be operated via PCs, tablets and smartphones. The settings can be adapted to the individual needs of the users. It provides a very efficient order and production planning. Another plus is that it ensures optimum machine performance as it is always monitored and under control.”
“Sustainability is Part of Our Future Strategy”
At the end of his speech, Christian Lerch also touched upon the issue of sustainability and underlined that developments and trends in narrow woven textiles focus on sustainability. “Sustainability is of course a very important issue in our company as well. It is also a part of our future strategy,” said Lerch, and concluded his words as follows: “We support our customers with sustainable solutions. Today, many different types of materials such as viscose can already be produced and processed on our machines. We even supported Yannik Zamboni, a very famous young designer, in the past months. He prepared a collection with fabrics made from sustainable yarn. We produced special tapes for his collection. The ‘maison blanche’ branded ribbons were woven with Tencel® sustainable yarn on the Jakob Müller machine NFMJ576. Zamboni presented its spring 2023 collection at the New York Fashion Show. But we don’t just want to enable our customers in terms of sustainability, we also do something for ourselves. We have reinvested in production equipment to make processes more efficient.”
