ACIMIT: Italy’s Exports to Turkey Increased by 15 Percent in the First Nine Months of 2021
In 2020 the value of Italian production was Euro 1.8 billion, with exports worth Euro 1.5 billion. Exports represent 83% of total sales, realized in about 130 destination Countries. This process of internationalization, together with the vocation for innovation in the sector, allowed Italian companies to consolidate and further improve the leading position held by the Italian textile machinery industry all over the world.

Italian textile machinery exports – Geographical destination (Jan-June 2021) % on total
In the first half of 2021 the main destination of Italian exports of textile machines was Asia (42%), followed by Europe extra EU (18%) and European Union (20%). The biggest contribution to the Italian exports of textile machinery came from China. In Jan-June 2021 period Italian sales toward Chinese market amounted to a value of Euro 150 million. China is followed by Turkey, United States of America and Pakistan.

The supply of Italian manufacturers covers all the classic sectors into which we can divide textile machines. Italian sales abroad are divided among these main sectors: 30% dyeing, finishing and printing machines, 24% accessories, 20% spinning machines, 11% knitting machines, 8% weaving machines and 7% other machines.

Turkey, an excellent partner for Italian textile machinery manufacturers
The relevance of Turkey in the world textile and clothing industry has made the Country one of the world’s leading markets for textile machinery.
As far as the Italian exports are concerned Turkey is the second largest market for Italian textile machinery industry, accounting for 13% of Italian exports. In 2020, Italian sales in the Turkish market reached a value of 205 million euros (+27% on the previous year). In the first nine months of 2021 the Italian exports observed an increase (+15%), reaching a value of 176 million euros.

In the first nine months of 2021 the most requested Italian machinery for the Turkish market were the knitting machines (26% of the total exports towards Turkey), followed by weaving machines (24%) and finishing ones (23%).
