Aksa Akrilik and Bossa Colloborated To Develop A New Generation Denim Fabric
The global denim sector, which bears an overall market size of about USD 150 billion, will be marked by a new fabric developed by Turkish engineers. An acrylic fiber denim fabric has been produced for the first time based on the combined efforts of Aksa Akrilik, the world’s largest acrylic fiber producer, and Bossa, a textile giant. While cotton, polyester and viscose blends were normally used for denim fabrics, a denim fabric has been developed for the first time under the brand Acare fiber, e.g. the brand of Aksa Akrilik. One of the most important characteristics of this fabric is that it is antibacterial and reduces odor formation. It is also soft, flexible, can keep warm & cool. It also has the potential to open up new spaces especially for designers since it is a fabric that does not make any pilling.
Taş: We have created a new area for use of acrylic fiber
Cengiz Taş, the General Manager of Aksa Akrilik, expressed his satisfaction with their cooperation with Bossa. Taş told that they act based on the vision of creating new areas for use of acrylic fiber, in a very wide range from clothing to home textiles, from outdoor use to industrial use, and stated as follows: “We try to create added value for Turkish economy with innovative products developed using our own technologies, and we are happy to cooperate with the valuable companies of our country in the field of innovative products.” Taş added the following:
“In cooperation with Bossa, the brand Acare fiber, which is the sub-brand of our Acryluna product, was used in denim fabric production. Thus, a raw material that had not been used before in the denim sector has been used. Aksa Akrilik and Bossa combined their technological forces to create a soft, hygienic fabric that does not cause sweatening in the hot and does not cause chilling in the cold. I hope that our cooperation with Bossa, a company that leads the global textile industry, will increase exponentially.”
Duru: We will strengthen the denim sector
Onur Duru, the General Manager of Bossa, stated that they are happy to join forces with Aksa Akrilik, the world’s largest acrylic fiber producer. Duru said that almost 80 percent of European-weighted exports comprise denim fabric, and delivered the following statement:
“We continue our efforts to increase our denim capacity. As a company that closely follows technology, fashion and trends in the world, we produce nearly 50 different products every month in our R & D center. As part of our cooperation with Aksa, we have done something not done in the world denim sector before, and we used acrylic fiber in denim fabric. This is a brand new fabric that we believe will meet changing customer expectations. We have obtained a fabric with superior properties in terms of hygiene, softness, and flexibility. We have produced our first samples. We will start mass production soon. We aim to export the fabric to the USA and Far East countries, especially the European countries. I believe that our new generation of fabrics will make a big difference in denim sector. We are a brand known all over the world with our environmental friendly products and I believe that we s hall strengthen the Turkish denim sector by means of the new denim fabric dveloqed in cooperation with Aksa.”
