DMS Dilmenler Makine Continued Its Investments During The Pandemic Period
DMS Dilmenler Makine, which has been producing mainly for abroad for the last five years, exports 80 percent of its products abroad. The company, which works for the domestic market with 20 percent, continues to make investments.
DMS Dilmenler Makine, which has been serving the dye printing finishing sector with its experience for many years, has made a new investment. The company is planning to a new organization by moving to its new manufacturing sites.
DMS Dilmenler Makine was included in the “Turkish Textile Machinery Industry” file, which we have published specifically for this month’s issue of Tekstil Teknoloji magazine. We got information about the company’s new investments and activities in the interview that we conducted with the company’s General Manager İsmail Şengüler.
How did the pandemic process affect your work? How did this process affect your investment decision?
At the beginning of the pandemic, I had reservations on behalf of the textile machinery industry and our company. Moreover, the markets we export to were also the regions where the pandemic was most intense. We thought that countries such as Asia, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Egypt would be affected very much by the pandemic. It was thought that investment requests will be postponed and they may exit this process later. Yes, in those markets, people delayed their investment requests, but they returned to those requests in June 2020. Even, people felt compelled to invest themselves. For this reason, we spent the period between July and August very efficiently in terms of orders. We currently have a very serious amount of orders as of the end of the year. Our orders were filled in next 6-7 months period. But we need to find ways to increase production, not order. Thus, we can turn into this trend into added value in a healthy way. At the beginning of the pandemic, we made an investment decision. We invested in new buildings, new areas. The current situation creates opportunities for us.

How is your order density domestically and abroad?
Our exports abroad continue at full speed. We receive more project-based orders. We also have orders that are combined as both finishing and dye are in the same project. DMS Dilmenler Makine has been producing mainly oriented abroad for the last five years. We export 80 percent abroad, and we produce 20 percent for the domestic market. This; does not mean that DMS Dilmenler Makine chose abroad and left Turkey. For the last ten years, there has been a serious development in export markets as a result of the projects of DMS Dilmenler Makine for export abroad, the success of its machinery abroad and the returns at exhibitions. As such, our activities abroad automatically increased.
What do you attribute your success in your export market?
The exported customers should be able to get the result they hoped for from the machine. Because if the customer does not speak well about you because of the machine they bought, they may not make the next investment from you. They also do not speak well of their surroundings. It is necessary to work correctly with the right customer and to be able to produce the right product. This situation is continued with representatives in abroad. It is very important that the representatives are selected correctly in this regard. In addition, the company needs to support its representatives and customers. The company needs to provide spare parts, to have technical staff there when necessary, to find solutions when there is a lack of information or problems occur. If these three situations can be positioned correctly, works will continue. We have attached great importance to these for ten years.
How do you plan to continue your investment while your orders are in the production process? What kind of measure do you take for to avoid any disruption in your orders?
Machine manufacturing; It is made in four separate division: dyeing machines, finishing machines, continuous machines and departments that make accessory parts. Each department makes a future program according to the orders it has and takes steps accordingly. We make the relevant capacity increase and building investments to develop these mainstream productions.
Mainstream machines, the more sold and heard, the more return they will have. For this reason, mainstream machines are the works that make up our lifeblood. It is necessary to be flexible in terms of increasing the number of some machines and multiplying the mainstream. 50 machines should be made when necessary, and should be able to be dropped 30 machines when not needed. We need to be flexible about how we can improve investments. When our business is good, we need to have an infrastructure that can respond to this.

What do you think that how the pandemic process we are experiencing will reflects on the textile industry?
I believe that better days will come for the textile industry. There seems to be a dynamic atmosphere that the pandemic gives to Turkish textiles. The pandemic period we are in now causes us to take a series of measures that will enable textile to progress in a better position for many years. Currently a new world order creates and Turkey, decide how it will stay in a position in the textile point. In this process, we saw that Turkish textiles took very important steps in line with the needs. We need to make efforts to increase the share of the textile of Turkey in general of the world.
