As Tekstil Teknoloji Magazine, we interviewed with Vesile Gelişen, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Eva Düğme Metal Tekstil Aksesuar Sanayi ve Ticaret Ltd. Şti. for the Garment Tech İstanbul Exhibition special issue. Gelişen shared her expectations for this important organization, her sector evaluations and the products they will exhibit at the exhibition.
Vesile Gelişen started the interview by evaluating the Turkish economy and the ready-to-wear sector. She said; “The Turkish economy and the textile and ready-to-wear sectors are among the most important in our country thanks to their high export potential. In terms of installed capacity and number of spindles, Turkiye ranks 6th in the world in the textile sector, and 4th in terms of the number of rotors. Turkiye is the largest textile producer on the European continent. Additionally, our country is the seventh largest producer of cotton in the world.”
“It is An Inevitable Fact That We Invest in the Textile and Garment Sector”
Emphasizing the needs of the Turkish ready-to-wear sector, Gelişen draws attention to the importance of investing in the sector. “Due to the global economic recession, especially following the pandemic, our ready-to-wear manufacturers are finding it difficult to maintain competitive prices in the global market. After the exchange rate stabilised and interest rates increased, it became more difficult for companies looking to invest to access finance. However, given that our textile and garment sectors generate the most foreign exchange for our country, it is inevitable that we invest in these sectors. The Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition is very important for keeping up to date with technological developments, which are the most important factor when it comes to making and planning investments in the coming period as conditions improve.” Gelişen said.
“The Exhibition will Bring Together All the Equipment Our Industry Needs from A to Z”
Vesile Gelişen says that exhibitions are important platforms where the business world, new products and trade networks come together. Emphasizing that the Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition will bring together all the equipment the apparel sector needs from A to Z, Gelişen comments, “I am sure that the Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition will establish a very good market by bringing together garment machinery manufacturers and textile sub-industry accessory manufacturers. I think the exhibition will contribute to the Turkish economy and the development of the ready-to-wear and garment sector.”
“Our Expectation from the Exhibition is to Take Our Exports to Higher Levels and Gain New Customers”
Vesile Gelişen explains her expectations about the exhibition as follows: “We aim to expand our export markets, take our exports to higher levels, highlight our brand Big Stars, gain new customers for our company, receive new orders and open the doors of the market to a much higher level. Our company also supplies products to most European countries. As every company aims, we also want to supply products to all countries in the world.”
