Migiteks Tekstil Produces 7 Thousand Tons Of Lycra Annually
At the lycra factory with an investment value of approximately 240 million dollars, whose first phase has been completed in the Niğde Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ), 7 thousand tons of lycra (a synthetic fiber that provides durability and elasticity to fabric) are produced annually.
Established in 2024 within the scope of the “Project-Based Investment Incentive System” in the Niğde OIZ, the facility started production in a closed area of 35 thousand square meters. While monthly production of 600 tons is carried out in the first phase of the factory, it is aimed to increase the production capacity to 35 thousand tons annually with the completion of the second and third phases. The second phase of the facility, which aims to meet a large portion of domestic lycra demand, is planned to be completed within 2 years, and the third phase within approximately 5 years.
Migiteks Textile and Industry Inc. Executive Ahmet Kısacık told an AA correspondent that the company produces a synthetic fiber to make textile products and fabrics more elastic and comfortable.
Explaining that they decided to invest to prevent imports, Kısacık said: “Our investment is included in the ‘Project-Based Investment Incentive System.’ This incentive was granted by a Presidential Decree, and we decided to invest in Niğde. We planned the investment in three steps. We have currently completed our first phase, and the amount is approximately 90 million dollars. When we complete the second phase, we will have made an investment of 150 million dollars, and when we complete the third phase, approximately 230–240 million dollars. We were experiencing difficulties in finding personnel at our factories in Thrace. We saw that this would be less of an issue in Niğde, and therefore we chose Niğde. Another reason is that when we considered the second and third phases, we needed a large area, and it was tough to find large plots of land there. In Niğde, we secured a plot of land of approximately 200 thousand square meters and made our investment here.”
“When We Complete The Third Phase, We Will Produce 35 Thousand Tons Annually”
Emphasizing that they have completed the first phase, Kısacık stated the following: “We are currently operating. Our annual production will be 7 thousand tons. When we complete the second phase, we will produce 20 thousand tons annually, and when we complete the third phase, we will produce 35 thousand tons annually. When we complete the third phase, we will be producing more than our imports. Another feature of this factory is that it is a domestic spandex (lycra) factory. In this sense, we are proud to have brought such a facility and investment to our country. After completing the third phase, we aim to open up to the world market, carry out exports, and become a company that has a say in the world in the field of spandex.”
Stating that they attach importance to female employment in every area of the facility, Kısacık noted that 40 percent of the 190 employees are women.
