Interview: Tuğba KARADEMİR
Yaşar Arga, Chairman of the Board at Ar-İş Makina, shared the company’s vision and innovative approaches in the industry during the Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition held in Istanbul. Arga emphasized that they aim to grow both in the domestic market and in exports, particularly with AI-powered cutting machines.
Held at the Istanbul Expo Center, the Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition hosted companies that showcase the power of domestic production in garment and ready-to-wear technologies. Participating in the exhibition, Ar-İş Makina Chairman Yaşar Arga discussed the company’s innovation and R&D-based approach, their new products, and his insights into the industry.
“We operate in the field of modular and cutting room machinery. The products we are showcasing are fabric cutting machines entirely manufactured in-house,” said Arga, highlighting that the newly introduced generation of cutting machines unveiled for the first time at the exhibition are poised to revolutionize many industry standards.
“Our machinery and cutting system are fully locally designed and engineered. This model, which does not exist in Turkiye, is being exhibited for the first time at this exhibition and has received significant attention,” he said, emphasizing that innovation lies at the heart of the company.
“The Exhibition Brings Strategic Dynamism to the Sector”
Highlighting the international scope of the Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition and its importance for the industry, Arga said: “Garment Tech Istanbul is a exhibition we consider very important. We’ve been preparing for it for months. Judging by what we’ve seen, the interest is very high. Since it’s organized by Teknik Fuarcılık, there is a strong sense of trust in the exhibition environment. We are very pleased with the interest from visitors.”
Arga also noted that Istanbul’s strategic location contributes to the exhibition’s success:
“We are based in a region that produces for the world from Istanbul. This is a platform where high value-added products are exhibited. We are very pleased with the positive reception from international participants visiting our stand.”
Despite the contraction in the domestic market, Arga expressed their desire to continue focusing on export-driven growth, and said they believe the intense interest from foreign visitors will lead to collaborations: “We aim to grow in foreign markets. We are receiving a high number of visitors from the Balkans, the Far East, and Turkic Republics. For us, exports are a key path forward.”
Preparing for the Future with Technology and Artificial Intelligence
Arga stressed that Ar-İş Makina is keeping pace with the sector’s technological transformation, summarizing the advantages of artificial intelligence and automation in production as follows:
“We are working in harmony with technologies like artificial intelligence, automation, and machine learning. We’ve integrated these technologies into our new products. The future is heading in this direction, and we are ready.”
Despite the economic slowdown experienced in the first half of the year, Arga expressed optimism: “2025 started slowly, but we expect increased activity after the exhibition. We are participating at full capacity right now. By attending international exhibitions, we will further enhance the visibility of the Turkish brand globally,” he concluded.
