Saurer to Present Exciting Innovations at ITM 2020

We interviewed with Ersoy Buran, Managing Director, Saurer Tekstil A.Ş. for the ‘German Special Section’ of our Tekstil Teknoloji magazine. Buran describes the company’s relationship with the local market and discusses what customers can look forward to this year.
How was 2019 for your company and what are the company’s plans for the 2020? What are your expansion plans?
At ITMA 2019 in Barcelona, Saurer showed an all-new product portfolio from bale to package from its Spinning Solutions Segment as well as the five end-use spinning applications, namely: ring, compact, worsted ring, rotor and air spinning. The latter was made possible by the introduction of the Autoairo air-spinning machine. These developments are all results of Saurer’s customer-focused product innovation.
In February 2020, we launched the Automation Solutions product line, built on 30 years’ experience. It focuses on transportation, palletizing and packaging systems for spinning and twisting mills. These can be used in combination with our mill management system Senses, which allows customers to manage their entire production and quality assurance facilities along the textile chain.
How important is the Turkish market to your company – and how much business is carried out here?
Turkey remains one of the world’s important textile markets. We are following the growth of the country’s textile industry closely. Our local organization, with sales and service teams in all major textile hubs, is testament to Saurer’s commitment to this market.

for the first time. We have also chosen a Turkish customer as a development partner for the new Autoairo machine. At ITM 2020, we will showcase the new carding machine Autocard. Saurer’s previous cards drew huge interest from the Turkish market and we are confident this will be the case again. Customers will also be able to learn about our extensive high-tech range of laboratory equipment, Autolab.
What trends are you currently seeing in the textile machinery industry?
The trends favouring sustainability and increased automation that arose some years ago are still relevant today. We are also seeing a demand for flexible and intelligent machinery that enables customers to cope with changing market conditions. Our company is also responding to calls for increased digitalisation.

What industrial and economic challenges are currently impacting your company, and how is your company responding to them?
Currently the textile world is still feeling the impact of the trade dispute between China and the US. Another factor that will have a significant impact on the industry is the coronavirus, which is disrupting supply chains.
What measures do you take adopt a sustainable manufacturing approach?
Sustainability has been a major consideration for Saurer for a long time. Our E³ development philosophy optimising energy, economics and ergonomics, adding intelligence forms the basis of our design philosophy. Our machines enable our customers to manufacture products more sustainably.
We boost profit at customers’ mills by ensuring that our machines require less energy and are easy to operate while utilizing raw materials optimally, thus minimizing waste. Saurer’s carding and rotor-spinning portfolio also offers excellent products in this regard. Several of our manufacturing locations are also ISO certified in energy management.
