Turkiye Sets $100 Million Target for Carpet Exports to UAE
Turkish carpet exporters, who will earn Turkey $2.9 billion in foreign exchange by 2024 by exporting to 180 countries, have taken steps to furnish the palaces, hotels and mosques of the United Arab Emirates with Turkish carpets.
16 representatives of 9 companies participating in the Carpet Ur-Ge (Supporting the Development of International Competitiveness) project, implemented by the Aegean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association with the support of the Ministry of Trade, carried out overseas marketing activities in the United Arab Emirates from 21 to 24 April 2025.
Jak Eskinazi, Coordinating Chairman of the Aegean Exporters’ Association and Chairman of the Aegean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association, said that following the needs analysis carried out as part of the project, they first provided training on “Developing Sales Skills for Export” and “Market Research Methods” to 17 companies participating in the Carpet Ur-Ge project, noting that they then produced a promotional film as part of the Ur-Ge project’s promotional activities, thus contributing to the companies’ promotion in international markets.
The Ur-Ge project they are continuing for the carpet sector is the third Ur-Ge project of the Aegean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association, Eskinazi said: “As part of our international marketing activities, we decided to organise a trade delegation to the United Arab Emirates. The UAE is the 6th country to which we export the most in the carpet sector, and we increased our exports by 7% in 2024, from $88 million to $95 million. Our aim with this delegation is to increase our carpet exports to the UAE to over $100 million. Most of the companies in our delegation are mosque carpet manufacturers based in Demirci, Manisa. In this sense, the UAE is a market with a high demand for mosque carpets. In our Ur-Ge project, we have identified our other target markets as the USA, England, Canada, Germany, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Malaysia and Indonesia. We will organise our next trade delegations to these countries.”
