“We Launched Our New Labelling Technology at Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition”
Interview: Dilek Hayırlı
One of the most prominent participants at the Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition, Serkon Makina received full marks from industry professionals with its high-tech fabric inspection, cutting, and spreading systems. Cemal Karaismail, Sales Manager at Serkon Makina, shared insights into their innovative solutions presented at the exhibition and offered evaluations regarding the Turkish textile industry.
“We Brought Artificial Intelligence Technologies to the Exhibition”
Emphasizing that they participated in Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition with artificial intelligence technologies, Cemal Karaismail explained the developments in their product range: “We came to Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition with artificial intelligence technologies. We have made a difference in the sector by adding artificial intelligence to the fabric control, fabric spreading and fabric cutting machines that we have been producing for years, after Industry 4.0. At the exhibition, we also launched our new labelling technology, which can be considered as the first in the world to perform labelling and classification at the same time. As Serkon Makina, last year we developed unmanned fabric control, namely fabric recognition and reading technology with artificial intelligence, in fabric control machines. This year, we included this technology in marker spreading machines and thus participated in the Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition with a difference.”
“Automation Increases Quality”
Karaismail outlined the primary benefits their systems offer to manufacturers: “The main principle of automation is to save time and labor. Our technologies not only reduce time and labor costs but also improve quality. This is the most important point. Because Turkiye is known for its quality in textiles. And we, as Serkon Makina, are doing our best to further enhance this reputation.”
“I Don’t Think the Global Textile Market will Give Up on Turkiye”
Commenting on the impact of global economic fluctuations and regional crises on the industry, Karaismail said: “Despite the global economic challenges and ongoing wars, I don’t believe the global textile market will turn its back on Turkiye. Thanks to Turkiye’s logistics, strategic location, ports, land and air transportation, and the comfortable living conditions for visiting buyers, we remain one step ahead of other textile-producing countries. I believe the textile market will gain momentum once the global economic crisis eases. Both Turkish textile producers and machinery manufacturers are ready for future orders. In this regard, Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition was an excellent meeting point for both domestic and international players.”
“Our Machines Operate in 77 Countries – A National Pride”
Karaismail stated that interest in their booth and products was high, and highlighted Serkon Makina’s global presence: “Today, Serkon Makina machines are operating in 77 countries. This is a national pride for us. At our stand, we hosted 16 of our international distributors—partners who represent our brand abroad and handle sales, spare parts, and after-sales services. This year, we received the most visitors from Russia and Uzbekistan.”
“Every Exhibition Opens a New Door to Opportunities”
Touching on the collaboration opportunities presented by trade exhibitions, Karaismail emphasized the productive nature of the event: “I see every exhibition as a new door to opportunities. And at this exhibition, we opened a new door, met new companies. We’ll strengthen these new connections with follow-up meetings after the event.”
“A Bright Future Awaits Companies Investing in Innovation and R&D”
Finally, Karaismail shared Serkon Makina’s investment plans and production capacity, forecasting a year of preparation in 2025 and a breakthrough year in 2026: “At Serkon Makina, we manufacture machinery in a 20,000-square-meter closed area located in Hadımköy Deliklikaya Organized Industrial Zone. One floor of our factory is dedicated entirely to R&D, and we collaborate with two universities. We’re ready for the upcoming season. I don’t expect 2025 to be very active in textiles, but I believe that companies focusing on strong R&D and innovation in 2025 will be well-positioned to take full advantage of the expected global recovery in 2026.”
