“We Sold 6 Units of Our Color Dyeing Machine in a Short Time, This is a Great Success”
Interview: Dilek Hayırlı
Color Service Marketing Manager Göksun Özensoy said, “Many of our customers preferred to shift their orders to 2024 instead of cancelling them. It seems that we will start to feel a recovery in the market after the 2nd half of 2024.”
Operating for more than 30 years in the field of textile dyeing automation, Color Service has recently launched the Color Dyeing system. Developed for laboratories, this system is able to perform the dyeing work performed in the enterprise environment exactly in the laboratory environment. when this system is used in conjunction with the Color Service business automation, it makes it possible to dye without sampling, which we can call blind dyeing. Göksun Özensoy, Marketing Manager at Color Service, said: “I am sure that in the future, factories using Color Dyeing machines will only use sample dyeing machines to prepare collections.”
We interviewed with Göksun Özensoy for the special issue of our Tekstil Teknoloji magazine ‘Italy Textile Machinery Industry’. Özensoy evaluated the year 2023 and the developments in the textile machinery industry and shared information about the Color Dyeing system.
“We will start to feel a recovery in the market as of the 2nd half of 2024″
Firstly, how was the year 2023 for your company? Can you evaluate it in terms of your production volume, orders and export markets?
2023 was as slow as we expected. Some investments were postponed as many of our customers preferred to shift their orders to 2024 instead of cancelling them. It seems that we will start to feel a recovery in the market after the 2nd half of 2024.
Your latest Color Dyeing system emphasises sustainability and efficient use of raw materials. Can you elaborate on how these principles are implemented in the technology?
This machine was welcomed as very innovative in the market. We received many requests from many companies to test it. Since the machine is developed for the laboratory, it aims to bring the sample studies to the laboratory environment, which will be carried out with small weights in the enterprise. In fact, our goal with this machine is to eliminate the gap between the lab and the lab rather than saving resources. Whatever you produce in the laboratory environment, it is possible to transfer it directly to the business in the same way. Therefore, I am sure that in the future, factories using Color Dyeing machines will only use sample dyeing machines to prepare collections. Because with Color Dyeing, it is possible to transfer the test runs to the company without making any corrections to the recipe.
“Getting the coloring right in one go has become, in a word, a ‘must'”
In the new Color Dyeing system, we see that energy efficiency and water saving are also important. When you compare these features with your previous products or the products of your competitors, what would you say about the advantages they offer to your customers?
As I mentioned before, we can carry out the dyeing work carried out in the operating environment exactly in the laboratory environment. Therefore, it is possible to eliminate or minimise many problems that reduce operating efficiency, such as repainting, additions and repairs. Our goal is to reduce other resources such as electricity, steam and water consumed by the repairing or adding machine, as well as saving time. At the same time, when this system is used in conjunction with the Color Service business automation, it makes it possible to dye without sampling, which we can call blind dyeing. We currently have many customers who do this. Therefore, we can say that blind dyeing is no longer a dream. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that it is now necessary because the costs are pushing us more and more every day. Correct dyeing in one go has become a ‘must’ in a word.
The Color Dyeing system includes automatic chemical transfers during the dyeing cycle, under high temperature and pressure conditions. How have these features improved the overall efficiency of the dyeing process?
It is a very useful feature especially for polyester or other synthetic fibre dyeing factories. Although there are machines that do this in the real operating environment, there is no laboratory-side machine that can do this. For this purpose, it is possible to test and understand how the process works in the laboratory and transfer it to the enterprise.
What kind of feedback do you get from your customers about the Color Dyeing system?
We have many customers who test the fabric and are satisfied with the result and buy the machine. Considering that it is a solution that becomes an investment of half a million euros when integrated with the laboratory pipetting system, I think it is a success to say that we sold 6 systems after the ITMA 2023 exhibition. Because we can only fulfil the sample test requests we have by making an appointment months later. The interest of the customers is very high and the results are very satisfactory for the customer.
In 2024, what are your expectations about the world textile sector and especially the textile machinery sector?
I think the lowest level of the crisis has been reached. After this point, we will see a re-mobilisation. Even if this situation will be reflected in manufacturing in a short time, it will be reflected in machine manufacturing only after the 2nd half of 2024. On the other hand, on the garment side, the stocks accumulated by the manufacturers in recent years are being depleted and new orders are coming in. In addition, synthetic “outdoor” manufacturing, which was made in China for years, has started to shift to Bangladesh, India and Turkey. Manufacturers are making investments in this field and buying new machines. A new market is also emerging for machine manufacturers.
“We Want to Add New Markets and New Customers to Our Portfolio in 2024”
As a company, do you have new investments and new machine developments on your agenda in the near future? Can you tell us about your 2024 targets?
Our goal is actually not to add new machines to our portfolio in 2024. We want to add new markets and new customers. Although we have been known as a company that offers the best technology in dyeing enterprises for years, we have been weak on the laboratory and printing side. We want to show the market that we also exist here. Our work is focussed in this direction.
As you know, 2024 is the year of ITM. As Color Service, how are you preparing for ITM 2024 Exhibition? How do you think ITM Exhibition will accelerate the textile machinery sector, which has been stagnating in the last period?
Visitors who cannot come to ITMA fair due to visa problems are our main target. Of course, the Turkish market is also in our target. However, as of the current situation, we do not think that the investors have too much appetite. For the Middle East and Central Asian countries, the ITM Exhibition is worth a jewellery. Therefore, our target for ITM 2024 is half and half Turkey and Middle East countries.
