Etrofil Carries the Power of Yarn to the Global Market
As the concept of “handmade” regains value on the global fashion stage, the hand knitting yarn sector is also undergoing a major transformation in its production approach and design perspective. Placing naturalness, sustainability, and the power of craftsmanship at the center of its hand knitting yarns, Etrofil reinterprets the inspiration it draws from nature with modern designs in its 2026 collection.
Defining each yarn not merely as a knitting material but as a bond established with nature and a value given to labor, Etrofil Hand Knitting Yarns Chairman of the Board Toygun Batallı emphasized that the new collection consists of six special series inspired by different geographies around the world.
Stating that each series in the new collection is inspired by different aspects of nature, Toygun Batallı said: “Shetland is a special yarn produced from 100% Shetland wool. It is obtained from the wool of sheep adapted to the harsh climatic conditions in the north of Scotland and adds warmth to every knit with its distinctive rustic texture. Patagonia is produced from 100% organic Merino wool. Thanks to its two-ply twisted structure, it offers a knitting experience that is both lightweight and durable. Istanwool is a series produced from 100% Turkish wool, bringing together Anatolia’s handicraft heritage with modern design. With its color palette inspired by the Ottoman era, it keeps the timeless spirit of Istanbul alive in every knit. Bambonita, with its 60% bamboo and 40% organic cotton content, is a perfect option for summer knits. With its skin-friendly, breathable, and non-allergenic structure, it is especially ideal for baby knits and sensitive skin. Organic Cotton is produced from 100% organic cotton. Obtained from cotton fibers grown without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, this series provides comfort in all four seasons with its natural, breathable, and sustainable structure. The Felted Tweed collection, which stands out with its viscose fiber content, has been prepared with an environmentally conscious and sustainable production approach. The Alpaca Plus series is produced from baby alpaca fibers obtained from alpacas living in the high-altitude Andes Mountains of Peru and Bolivia. It provides three times more warmth compared to ordinary wool and offers an extremely lightweight feel. In our new collection, we have adopted a production approach that honors both nature and labor. Every fiber we use in our new collection is processed with methods that do not harm nature.”
Batallı added, “As Etrofil, we are one of the strongest representatives of this transformation. With the collections we develop, we both carry local textures into the present day and make the strength of Turkish yarn visible in the global handicraft market. This approach, which restores respect for craftsmanship, draws inspiration from nature, and is interpreted with modern lines, also paves the way for new-generation producers and designers.”
