Export Movement from UTIB to the USA
Uludağ Textile Exporters’ Association (UTIB) stepped on the gas in exports. UTİB, which wants to increase its share in the target country USA, showed a strong participation in two simultaneous fairs held in New York. Both exhibitions, in which UTIB organised national participation organisation with the coordination of the Ministry of Trade, took place simultaneously between 16 – 17 July 2024.
While 50 companies from Turkey took part in Premiere Vision New York, 5 Turkish companies participated in Functional Fabric Fair Summer.
Evaluating the US market and the organisation, UTİB Chairwoman Pınar Taşdelen Engin drew attention to the importance of these organisations for the sector. Informing that the 47th Premiere Vision New York Fair and the 8th Functional Fabric Fair were organised, Engin said. “The USA is a very important and growing market in terms of Turkish textile sector exports. In the first half of the year, we exported 253 million dollars to the USA with a growth of 13%. Even if we are in the plus compared to last year, it is not a sufficient amount. We can export more than a billion dollars to the USA, the world’s largest importer. We believe that we will be able to achieve this goal with the normalisation of economic conditions and the regaining of price competitiveness.”
Exports to the USA increased by 11%
Noting that Turkish companies provided important collaborations at the fairs, Engin made the following statements: “Our companies attract attention with their quality and innovative products. Bursa plays an important role in the development of the Turkish textile sector at this point. We strive to add branding to quality and innovation. We need to increase the number of companies that have become brands in order to strengthen our presence in the US market. In the first half of the year, we, as UTİB, exported 58.5 million dollars to the US, an increase of 11%. We will continue our efforts to reach the export amounts that we have great potential for both Bursa and Turkey in general.”
