Tachyon Manufactures Environmentally Friendly Productions with Pluvia Brand
Zafer Serttaş, the Founding Partner of Tachyon
Tachyon Company, with its environmentally friendly productions and responsible manufacturing understanding, takes low water, energy, and chemical consumption as its main issues in its designs under the name of Pluvia brand. We conducted an interview with Zafer Serttaş, the founding partner of Tachyon, which is exclusive to the issue of our magazine this month. In brief, Serttaş expressed the following, ‘‘We invite everyone who wants to reduce energy costs and think that it is our debt to the next generations to use a non-infinite resource such as water more carefully in these periods as the possibility of drought is deeply felt.’’
Could you please share with us your activities and the secret of your success beginning the date of your establishment?
Our past before Pluvia has a very significant place in this regard. As partners, all of us have worked professionally on energy efficiency and energy recycling systems of textile enterprises in the sector for a long time. With the experience we gained here, we moved on to the production of continuous washing machines since the most unnecessary water and energy consumption during manufacturing is in washing, whereas sufficient work was lacking. With this background, we founded Tachyon, which means particles faster than light, in 2013 and created the brand Pluvia, which means waterfall. We started our work as an R&D company for textile finishing machines and aimed for ourselves to produce machines with the lowest water and energy consumption ever produced.
At the point we have reached today, we are proud to have achieved the success we targeted. After dyeing, we developed our Pluvia Circum Dye rope washing machine, which can wash in discontinuous systems continuously and increase the fastness results while reducing consumption by at least 40 percent, and then we developed our Pluvia Circum Print machine, which gives the best results after reactive and dispersed printing. Our Pluvia Maxime Drum washing machine, which can wash even the most delicate fabrics, is especially preferred by companies producing delicate woven fabrics. Our Pluvia Maxime J-Box open-width washing machine, which can be used in front of the stenter unit or independently, is preferred recently because it can offer solutions to different needs. In 2020, we are happy to complete the implementation of our continuous bleaching line, called Pura Bleaching, which we were studying in our R&D department for some time. Pura Bleaching, which takes up 50% less space compared to conventional continuous bleaching lines and provides low consumption and high quality, a common feature of every Pluvia, is currently functioning successfully.
What are the main features of your production? What kind of studies are you performing for environment friendly production?
Environmentally friendly manufacturing has now become more of a duty to the world and humanity than just an issue spread by the imposition of governments or large firms or that provides an advantage in the competition by reducing costs. Therefore, we consider low water, energy, and chemical consumption as the priority topic in our designs. We are pleased that the consumption values of our machines in the processes in which they are used in the field reach theoretical minimum values and can perform even lower with the new processes we have developed together with our customers. The most important aspect of washing processes is the efficiency in using the water. All other consumptions are directly proportional to the water usage. Your steam consumption is necessary to increase the water to the desired temperature. The amount of chemicals varies depending on the amount of water. Therefore, we prioritize using water efficiently. In all our machines, we not only increase the contact time of the fabric with water but also use recovery and water columns with a patented design that allows water to pass through the fabric many times with a flow capacity of 60 m3/h in each cabin. In this way, we use water much more efficiently and reduce all consumption compared to discontinuous methods, as well as other continuous machines. Time is also an important resource for us and its efficient use is among our goals. Thanks to the completion of the washing after dyeing with Pluvia Circum Dye, as we recommend, an increase of up to 30 percent is achieved in the entire plant capacity.
Could you please tell us about your Pluvia brand, its innovations in production, and the reasons for it to be preferred?
Most importantly, since we are an engineering company, the design of all our machines belongs to us and they are patented. R&D is a process without an end. In this direction, we are constantly working on new designs and developments. As for the textile industry is considered, cost-price balances have come to such a fine line that there is no other way than to reduce costs to ensure sustainability. Of course, energy costs stand out as the most important item here. As Pluvia, the aim of all our designs is to realize the maximum quality with minimum consumption. The results that we are getting from the production operations right now truly reveal that we are getting a lot of value for this design work. As a result, we invite everyone who considers that the more careful use of a non-infinite resource such as water is our debt to the next generations and desires to reduce energy costs in these times when the danger of drought is deeply felt.
Can you elaborate on Tachyon’s dominance in domestic and international markets? Could you provide information about your international network and dealerships? Which countries do you export to the most?
Tachyon primarily positioned itself, starting from 2013, for the domestic market and strongly proved its capabilities. This is of course a step to be taken before going abroad. Later, starting with Uzbekistan, we established our dealer networks in countries such as Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan, which undertake the burden of world textile production, and carried out our sales and installations in these countries. It is a fact that regardless of the country, the results obtained after the installation of the first machine in the country and the satisfaction of the customer accelerated the subsequent sales. Fortunately, this is our current situation in these countries today. In addition, we made our first export to Egypt in 2020. With the machine to be installed in January, we will open up a new market for ourselves. Our goal for 2021 is to enter Indonesia, Vietnam, China, and North and South American markets and we are working on it.
How do you describe the pandemic period that started in 2020 for your company? What were its reflections on your company?
Of course, like every company, we were affected by the uncertainty in the first place. However, with the transition to the new normal in June of last year, it is clearly understood that the world textile market has not stopped and will not stop. At this point, we had the advantage of being positioned in different markets. We can say that there was a rapid start in the domestic market after June. We have completed our projects that started in different regions such as Bursa, Denizli, Tekirdağ, and started new projects. The operations that were adversely affected abroad in India caused other regions to feel the need for an increase in capacity. Therefore, while we restructured in India, we turned to other markets and achieved positive results.
What are your expectations for 2021? Do you have new projects; can you please provide brief information about them?
In 2021, we wish our country and the whole world a healthy year. We believe that we will come out of this troubling period as the whole world even stronger. At Pluvia, our main goal is to increase our brand value. In line with this plan for the next year, our main goals will be to increase our sales figures, to develop new designs and to enter new markets. We aim to increase the share of our exports in our sales to over 70 percent. For this, we have completed all the necessary preparations domestically and internationally in 2020.
Do you have any works related to the ITM 2021 Exhibition, which is planned to be organized in June? Will you have any productions to introduce? What are your expectations from the exhibition?
ITM is one of the exhibitions with the highest recognition and participation not only in Turkey but also globally. For us, it creates an excellent opportunity to introduce all our products and all our innovations. ITM, which will be held when the devastating pandemic problem is overcome and there are no travel restrictions, is an invaluable opportunity to observe all developments in the textile industry. As Pluvia, we will take our place strongly with all our projects that have been finalized by then with our entire product range.
