“Turkish Companies Invested in the Latest Machinery Technologies During the Pandemic Period”
Christoph Weber, Managing Director Trützschler Spinning /Temasa Turkey
Trützschler, which continues its activities worldwide in spinning, nonwoven, artificial fiber and card clothing solutions, has been in close cooperation with Turkish textile manufacturers for many years. Trützschler also has continued to receive intensive orders from companies in Turkey, during the pandemic period which was affected the whole world.
We interviewed with Christoph Weber, Managing Director Trützschler Spinning /Temasa Turkey for our Tekstil Teknoloji Magazine. Weber, who we talked about the changes in the textile industry during the pandemic and the road map of the Trützschler company has made important statements about the Turkey market.
What do you think about the textile machinery industry situation globally in this hard time and what is your prediction for post Corona Period? What kind of changes do you think will happen for the sector?
The industry is facing a challenging time. Nevertheless, in the last quarter of 2020 Trützschler has noticed a significant increase in demand. That is why our outlook for 2021 is positive – we expect that the whole market will continue to recover.
How was the year 2020 in terms of your company? How did your company create a roadmap to get through the process with less damage?
Although 2020 was difficult, we look back with satisfaction. We have managed the crisis comparatively well. Our intelligent card TC 19i, the first self-optimizing card worldwide, was a market success and sold very well globally. The systematic development of high-performance card clothings by Trützschler Card Clothing combined with TC 19i led to very good results. This was well received by our customers – especially in Turkey, where we saw a particularly high demand in 2020. Not losing speed and being a reliable partner was more important than ever for our customers and us. The high flexibility and engagement of every employee enabled us to stay in close contact with our customers and partners and serve their needs.
In spinning, what are the developments that Trützschler has seen over the years, and what advantages the systems that Trützschler offers over that of its competitors technologies?
Trützschler machines provide answers to our customers’ demands for higher productivity, efficiency and quality as well as optimum raw material utilization and sustainability in the entire spinning preparation process. We are constantly working to make this process even more intelligent. The TC 19i was the first milestone in our vision of the intelligent spinning mill. Our goal is to digitize all the machines in spinning preparation.
Due to global growth in the textile market and an increasing demand for sustainable textile products, we want to push further the field of textile recycling. Our latest innovation, the intelligent TC 19i for Recycling, empowers our customers to achieve the maximum quality when carding secondary fibers from torn textile waste. Its special features ensure a reliable opening and cleaning and a gentle, but effective treatment of short fibers. That helps to avoid unnecessary fibre waste.
Turkey, especially in pandemic process has become an important supply point for Europe again. How do you assess the importance of Turkey’s textile sector?
Since decades, the Turkish textile industry is extremely important in the textile supply chain for European fashion brands. Proximity, very flexible adaptation to ever faster changing fashion cycles, highest quality of textile products and professional, reliable order handling have certainly contributed to gaining attention from buyers who were previously only looking for cheap imports from the Far East. During the pandemic, the strength of the Turkish textile industry pays back: The textile companies always have invested in latest machine technology, focusing on versatile products as well as flexible lot sizes. They are well equipped for specialized, flexible production – not only for producing commodities for the mass.
For Trützschler Turkey was always important: Years ago, we established our service subsidiary in Gaziantep which was recently expanded by our office and spare parts and wire storage in Kahramanmaras. To match the increasing demand of our products, our staff and service stations were gradually increased. The joint appearance of Trützschler Spinning and Trützschler Card Clothing under the umbrella of Temasa in 2020 has supported the optimization of our service: Trützschler offers a complete service for the entire life of the card, which includes all services and their follow-up in connection with the card clothing, e.g. grinding service, re-garnishing, etc.
Also, the close collaboration with our local representatives in Turkey contributes significantly to our success. The results prove that we are taking the right direction: Shorter distances, shorter response times and a closer exchange with our customers enable us to act fast, efficient and reliable in all main textile regions throughout Turkey – an ongoing process on which we have to work steadily.
As Trützschler, what are your expectations from 2021? Any recent or upcoming products you would like to discuss?
We will continue to push the launch of our intelligent machines and digital solutions. We also will come up with innovations for the blowroom and a lot of exciting surprises for our customers!
