Welcome 2019 for “Sustainability and Innovation”
The New Year stands for new hopes and excitements, ushering new beginnings. As we leave behind a year, in which we broke the export records as the textile industry, let us start the first article of the new year, with the hope that 2019 will be a year for our country rise in every area. We are again before you with a rich content in the first issue of 2019 as in every other month. Our cover story in this issue of our magazine, where we strive to share with you all the developments in both the domestic and foreign textile technology industry, is “Turkish Textile Machinery Industry – Special Feature.” In this context, we interviewed Adil Nalbant, Chairman of Union of Textile Machinery and Accessories Industrialists (TEMSAD) and Turkish textile machinery manufacturers, who evaluated for us the year 2018, and discussed the expectations from 2019. Adil Nalbant summarized our success in the machinery exports saying that “In the first 11 months of 2018, textile machinery exports reached 750 million dollars, increasing by 20%. Our achievement of increasing the exports from 38 million dollars in 2001 to 750 million dollars in 2018, is due to our efforts and endeavours.”
Recently, we have seen significant developments in the fields of sustainability and innovation in the Turkish textile production.
Turkish textile manufacturers, which increase their competitiveness with innovative products and stand out in the global markets, are also distinguishing with their investments on protecting the environment, and minimum use of energy and resources. Textile manufacturers, who produce for global world brands are updating their production approach and technology investments in line with the demands from these brands. This momentum seems to continue also in 2019. TIM Chairman İsmail Gülle pointed out that 2019 will be the year of “Sustainability and Innovation in Exports” and said that “We should focus on achieving a sustained momentum in export volume rather than a sudden jump in figures. This, in turn, requires continuing our projects on R&D and Design, while focusing on efforts to increase support for domestic and national production in products that have high import inputs. As Turkey, we need to show the entire world with our investments that Turkey’s success is permanent in the exports market.” We believe that we will share with you many developments and innovations in 2019 under the main theme of sustainability. On the other hand, we continue our activities in the digital world in the new year without a pause. The first result of this initiative has been the renewal of the “E-Textile Magazine,” which is the digital meeting point for the textile industry. On E-Textile Magazine, which allows you to browse freely on the website, you can read all kinds of professional evaluations, current researches and technological developments about new products.
In 2019, we will continue keeping up with all the textile events and exhibitions in our industry, and share with you the developments in the textile technologies.
Hoping to meet you nex month with a new issue, enjoy reading!
