Zorluteks Was Accepted for the EU-Supported Horizon Program for the Third Time with the ORBIT Project
Zorluteks, one of the companies of Zorlu Textile Group, once again demonstrated the international competence of its R&D Center and was accepted with the “ORBIT” project it applied for under the European Union-supported Horizon Europe Program. Taking part in the Horizon Europe Program, where acceptance rates are quite limited, once again certified Zorluteks’ R&D project development capacity and sustainability-focused innovation strength at the European scale.
Zorluteks, one of the companies of Zorlu Textile Group, which has made a name for itself with R&D activities carried out with a focus on circular economy, data-driven sustainability, and advanced technology solutions, not only transforms its own operations but also continues to undertake the leadership of innovative applications that will shape the future of the textile sector. The projects developed in line with this vision further strengthen the company’s increasing visibility and credibility on national and international platforms day by day.
In this context, Zorluteks once again demonstrated the international competence of its R&D Center and achieved a significant success within the scope of the Horizon Europe Program, which supports the European Union’s research, development, and innovation projects. Having previously carried out 2 different projects under the Horizon 2020 program, Zorluteks has now qualified for support for the third time with the Horizon Europe project named “ORBIT.”
“We Continue to Strengthen Our R&D Approach That Creates Value on an International Scale”

Zorluteks General Manager Cemil Çiçek
Emphasizing that Zorluteks’ approach, which integrates its sustainability focus into production processes, has found concrete response in international projects, Zorluteks General Manager Cemil Çiçek said: “As Zorluteks, we consider sustainability not only as a goal but as an integral part of our entire way of doing business. From raw material to process management, from production to the final product, we manage our entire value chain with this understanding and focus on developing innovative solutions that will reduce our environmental impact. After the 2 projects we previously took part in and successfully completed under the Horizon Europe program, being accepted into this prestigious program for the third time with the ORBIT project is an international indication of our R&D competence and our determination in the field of sustainability. The Horizon Europe ORBIT project, for which we have received acceptance, is a critical initiative that will carry our institution’s strategic competencies to international standards in line with the European Green Deal and circular economy goals. Within the project, technical bottlenecks and data gaps in the current Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology will be addressed with an AI-supported, dynamic, and scalable infrastructure. Thanks to this approach, it is aimed to ensure end-to-end traceability in the textile, chemical, and packaging sectors.”
Cemil Çiçek stated, “One of the strongest components of ORBIT is that, through the ‘Digital Product Passport and Compliance Engine’ to be developed, it will enable our institution to achieve automatic and proactive compliance with complex EU regulations such as ESPR and Green Claims. With machine learning-supported ‘cradle-to-grave’ analyses and eco-design tools, it is aimed to achieve more than a 30% reduction in carbon footprint in pilot processes. Taking part in this consortium will not only increase our technical capacity but also position our institution as competitive and pioneering at the European scale in innovations in the field of circular economy.”
With the ORBIT project, Zorluteks continues to carry its R&D activities developed on the axis of sustainability, digital transformation, and environmental responsibility to international platforms and to pioneer the green transformation of the textile sector.
