LMW: Installed Around Half A Million Spindles in Turkey
After a humble start, LMW today has become one among the three in the World to produce the full range of spinning machines from the blow room to ring spinning machines. The growth of LMW can be understood by the fact that it has supplied more than 40 million spindles and has a capacity to produce more than 3.5 million spindles annually. With a market share of 60 percent in the Indian spinning machine industry, LMW aligns its objectives with the needs of the textile industry. It provides technologically advanced machines designed to maximize efficiency and total quality.
We made an interview for our Textile Technology magazine with C.Arunachalam, LMW’s Vice President- (Global Sales). Arunachalam told the importance of Turkey for the LMW market, investment in Turkey in 2018 and the goals and investments in 2019.
If you assess in terms of export markets what is the importance of Turkey market for your company?
Lakshmi Machine Works has started its activities from 1996 in Turkey and active in market since 2002. We have a strong customer base and installed around half a million spindles in Turkey. Turkish textile sector has shifted its focus from low value added commodity items to high value added segment and fashionable clothing. The Turkish spinning industry focuses on investment in Technology up gradation, automation, products with value for money to survive in the tough competitive globalized economic conditions and hence Turkey is seen as a global reference. To add more importance to Turkey, LMW has started service support from Adana in 2018 in addition to Istanbul & Kahramanmaras offices.
How was the year 2018 in Turkey’s market for your company?
2018 was a year of new highs and a full project of 21000 spindles has been commissioned in Adana and successfully launched our new product range – Card LC 636 – 1.5 m width card, Draw Frame LDF3 and new Ring frames –SX series with inbuilt slub. Also we had a successful installation of back process machines feeding air jet spinning in Corlu. In the automation side, two installations with Bobbin transport system has been successfully commissioned. New auto leveller draw frame LDF3 has an overwhelming welcome from Turkish customers in all four segments – Ring, Compact, Open-End and Air jet. Overall 2018 is a successful year for LMW with good reference installations in Turkey in different segments.
What are your predictions and your expectations for 2019 in terms of the market of Turkey? In which field will new investments in yarn production be?
A growth in the 4th quarter of 2018 in Textile exports of Turkey is seen as optimism for this momentum to be carried forward to 2019. The new investments are expected in value-added yarns, blends and air jet segment. Commodity segment is also expected to expand with the advantage of increase in local cotton production and advantages in currency position for exports.
Do you have any new technologies you will introduce in 2019?
New technologies in Blow room – 2000 kg blow room line, combing preparatory system – new high production lap former, automation- Lap transport system, new speed frame – with 280 spindles – longest speed frame in the world, Ring frame with 2016 spindles, Spin pact – new compact spinning system, digitization – Spin connect a digital solution for a complete spinning mill and new innovations in post-spinning will be introduced in 2019.
