Textile World Met at the 21st International Istanbul Yarn Fair
The 21st International Istanbul Yarn Fair, eagerly awaited by the textile industry, opened its doors on 26 February at the Tüyap Fair and Congress Centre. Breaking its own record every year, the fair brought together the leading companies and professionals of the sector this year as well. The fair, which showcases the latest innovations and trends in the yarn sector, started this year with great interest.
The fair, which started with the participation of over 500 companies from countries such as Azerbaijan, China, Egypt, Germany, India, Uzbekistan, France, Italy, Malaysia, and England, hosted nearly 20,000 visitors from over 100 countries. Visitors from countries such as Germany, France, Morocco, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Lebanon, Egypt, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Iran, Russia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Ukraine, Tunisia, and Algeria showed great interest in the fair.
‘‘The World’s Largest and Only Yarn Fair’’
Tüyap Fuarlar Yapım A.Ş. General Manager İlhan Ersözlü said in his opening speech, “This fair, where all products for the yarn sector are exhibited, is the only and largest yarn fair in the world. We will aim to make significant contributions to the production, export, domestic and foreign trade of the sector by bringing our guests together with our participants within the scope of the fair.”

Uşak Governor Naci Aktaş said, “This fair, which has intense participation from home and abroad, will contribute to the country’s economy and strengthen the sector’s production, export and trade.”
‘We Learn to Read Weaving’ with Fırat Neziroğlu
On the second day of the fair, the world-famous weaving artist Fırat Neziroğlu hosted the “We Learn to Read Weaving!” workshop. Neziroğlu inspired industry professionals with his contemporary interpretation of traditional weaving techniques and his sustainability-themed narrative.
There is Art in its Texture’ Exhibition
The original designs of the Doku Fabric Design Competition organised by the Southeast Anatolia Exporters’ Association (GAİB) were also exhibited at the fair. The fabrics of the shortlisted designers were presented to visitors in the ‘There is Art in Texture’ exhibition area during the fair.
Tepme Felt and Wooden Mould Printing Workshop
Visitors of the fair had a different experience with the Tepme Felt and Wooden Mould Printing workshops prepared by Istanbul Aydın University Fashion Design Department. Visitors who attended these workshops on the first and last days of the fair had the opportunity to experience traditional handicrafts and create their own designs.
Trends Shaping the Future of the Industry
The fair, where innovative solutions in different yarn types such as cotton, polyester, viscose, wool and elastane were exhibited, offered opportunities for cooperation as well as sustainability-oriented technologies. Visitors had the opportunity to closely examine yarns, the most important raw material of the textile industry.
